i changed both but battery still won't charge.. i have checked fuses and am now dumbfounded.. what could it be?? a short in electrical.. but how do i fix that??

Ok I know this is the obvious but sometimes we miss the obvious. Have you checked your battery clamps maybe that is what needs to be changed? Sometimes its the little things.

place one end of a jumper cable on the alternator big terminal and the other on the battery Positive post do you hear the alternator slow down the motor? Then the fuseable link at the battery terminal has failed pink and orange wires it is the stretchy one. The plug and links are not expensive and some times you can twist the burnt wires back to each other and drive to the dealership.

Have you checked the tension on your alternator belt?
