Vista really, really hogs Memory and CPU. It takes about 600 MB space even without any programs running. And, since it is very graphic intensive, it takes a lot of time loading. Vista was supposed to be faster than XP; it's apparently not.

heart and troll is onto the answer.

Yes vista takes up more room... but on the other hand, new computers come literally with hundreds of gigs of memory, and CPUs are much much faster.

So it's obvious that the trend would be toward more system software since you can support it and the needs of users is greater.

It actually isn't a problem or a fault.

It's a good thing.

Probably. I still have xp but my dad just got a new computer with vista and it's already slow. Plus I hate it how it's so confusing to navigate around.

Not sure, but I think it's safe to assume that operating systems and programs in general continually get more advanced but not necessarily smaller or more efficient.

It is assumed the computers on which they run will be upgraded and ever-more powerful, which if you buy new ones from time to time, they are.

I use Vista, but wouldn't' recommend it unless you have at min 2 GB RAM... They say 512MB.. but even on 1GB it's slow... 2 GB it runs pretty good... But YES there are quirks with Vista, luckily none of them effect me
