the easiest way without removing the tire is to remove the air box which is like 3 screw after that you have to pull it out since its attached by three pegs that you merely pull out one is at the bottom and the other two are on the fender side... after that you can see the battery... remove the positive terminal since the negative is still not visible otherwise you would go the other way.... then you have a bracket that holds it down with two more screws remove those.... then you push the black plastic on the fender back until it stays in place... you will need gloves like gardening or heavy duty... you pull up the battery and once you can see the negative terminal loosen it then pull out the battery.... it takes about thirty minutes to remove and replace because of the ackward position but much better than removing the tire and having to deal with a small side view of the battery...note your hands will most likely cut if you do not wear gloves!!!!

A lot going on in your post..Instead of buying parts it needs diagnosis. Paying a mechanic to diagnose would have been cheaper and will probably still be cheaper than continuing like this. If you choose to do it yourself then buy the factory service manual. First off the engine controls require steady correct voltage from the charging system. Check the manual for charging system diagnostics and do what it says to diagnose. Second I'd tackle the check engine light and after that problem is solved if there is still a performance issue it will take experience to diagnose by symptom. There are vital grounds all over the car and ground are super important. It could maybe be all kinds of things. The voltage regulator is in the pcm and is easily destroyed by improper service procedures like disconnecting the battery while car is running, hopefully you haven't done that. A factory manual would tell you this and the location of every ground. Even a mechanic still needs and uses the manual. It would be nice to know the codes that have set the check engine light.

The battery is in a compartment in front of the driver's side front wheel. Turn the wheels right, remove the panel and hold down and slide out the battery.

Beneath the fender. You will have to access the battery through the fender well, taking the wheel off.
