And well said, I have seen a lot of my family members in dreams, and they have told me things that have come to pass. I have also seen my daughter a few months after she died , and she told me something
that happened not long after.
My mother had this gift as well, and it is a gift, people should not debunk what they don't understand.

This is a difficult and confusing subject and one I'm interested in knowing about more clearly. This is where I've got to so far.
John 4v1-3 : Beloved believe not every spirit but test the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets have gone out into the world. To know the spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God; and if a spirit confesses that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh that spirit is not of God.
Remember the devil is a deceiver - deception is the evil ones game. Use your discernment -
The Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth.
God bless and guide you.
Edit: This is in response to one post here: this poster does not believe in Jesus as the way - please don't allow confusion in, it's one of the devils deceptions...the enemy of mankind (the devil) comes as an angel of light - or as a wolf in sheep's clothing only to deceive - giving false hope - just b/c it feels good doesn't make it true or right - this can be deception...
It's better to know the truth however painful or difficult than be given false hope or even false comfort - comfort is good but not at the expense of truth...like i said may God guide you...

We believe the Bible to be truth, nobody who knows the Bible can dispute that there are other beings and forces at work here, but if they are not from God ie angels then they must be from the other guy. Satan is repeatedly called the father of lies or the deceiver, so you would expect many people to believe that his followers (demons) can deveive many too.

You shouldn't listen to everything organized religion tells you. They have created a wide variety of myths regarding life and the afterlife using a book that was written thousands of years ago in a time of superstition and ignorance; if they saw something they could not comprehend they immediately attributed it to a deity or a demon or thought exactly what they priests told them to think. I do believe in spirits, and i do believe in God and heaven; but i embrace the fact that there are many things that are unknown in the world and that the human mind tends to create a bunch of notions of what God and the world is based only in what the tradition says without even trying to find the answers by themselves and defy the old beliefs if they think something is wrong with them.

The spirits are here and there and everywhere among us, and sometimes we are able to recognize them. It's good to have discernment from the Holy Spirit, and to be full of God's Word and especially to know who we are in Christ and what authority we have as Believers over them. For those who live in denial, that demons, spirits and evil exist, will probably be surprised one day.

When a person dies, his body separates with his soul. After wards the soul dies as well, living his spirit back to its original form. This spirit is the one that connects us all as we essentially came from it.
However, the spirit that you're referring is not the same spirit I mentioned above. This is where I would speculate. Upon the person's death, it may or may not return and take another physical form due to karma. However, it is not always black and white. There are cases that his karma may point to his return as disembodied being, possessing the same characteristic of the dead person but this time without a physical body. This is the spirit that the mediums or other sensitive being are in contact with. They are sometimes referred to as 'ghost'. Is this spirit the same being whose soul is dead? I don't know. I think, speculating further, this spirit is the projection of the person's attachment prior his death, so essentially it is not the same person. It is like a clone. This is why this spirit is being accuse as a devil impersonating a death soul.

People do see spirits. Some are hallucinations, not spirits, as a result of intense emotional upset eg. when bereaved, Others people, with spiritual discernment can see demons, particularly while they are being cast out. Yet others - psychics can see spirits of the dead which are in fact not so, but are demons, and these psychics try to elicit the support of these demons.

Oh people see spirits. But not a relative. The Bible teaches that once we die we into the presence of the Lord and judged according to our faith in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:8 & Hebrews 9:27). So if we are not here on earth, then the only things left are angels and demons. Angels will never attract attention to themselves, but to God. Demons an the other hand are deceivers and the Bible teaches that they and Satan can portray themselves as angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Don't be deceived, the Satan is a liar.

Stupid ideas result from stupid people trying to push something on another person for some sort of control. I believe this is exactly what Jesus Christ opposed all of His years on Earth. Anyway, as one who has seen spirits for a long time, you must use discernment to know who they are. Sometimes they are demons. Sometimes they are angels. Sometimes they are our loved ones. Just keep in mind that the devil is the deceiver and so he will try to trick you. Ask God to show you who is who. Also you can command the spirit to identify itself to you by asking it if it is of the Lord.

The Bible itself teaches us that there are evil spirits or demons who try and make people believe that the dead can communicate with us. At one time King Saul of Isreal consulted a spirit medium and was talked to by a spirit creature who impersonated Samuel who had died. You can read about that account in 2 Samuel chapter 28. Interestingly, it recounts the event as viewed by the medium, who was deceived by the spirit that impersonated Samuel.
