I would say to give her a rest. She's 6 yrs old and produced 4 litters....are any of them Champions? Is she a Champion herself?
You say she's "German", did you import her?

FYI, there is no distinction between "German" and "American" Rottweilers, they have ONE standard....for some reason, backyard breeders put that "tag" on there because they think it commands a higher price tag...

She can physically still breed and give birth, although she's at the end of the period where it's really safe to do so. She is middle aged, and in a couple years she will be considered elderly. Older dogs have more birth complications. I think after that many litters she has already served you well. Get her spayed and keep her indoors as a pet.

She is welped out. She has already had too many litters. She needs to be spayed & not bred any more.

Even competent breeders don't over breed a dame. She needs to rest for the rest of her life.

I take it that she is just a pet cause you didn't say anything about winning in the show ring or getting a championship through competition. Or having a Pedigreed dog.

People should not breed their pets. That makes them BACK YARD BREEDERS & that is a firm NO NO.

You probably like the extra money but for someone to breed a pet is wrong. You don't know all about genetics & what you are doing to the breed. You can really screw up a breed when you don't know how to work the genetics.

Bigger dogs age faster than little dogs so she is actually older..but since she has already had 4 litters No she should not be bred again..Unless she is a champion and you are looking for another show prospect from her...

But make sure you have all the testing done since rotts do have a lot of genetic problems they can pass on.. Have her hips OFA'd, her eyes CERF, her thyroid and liver checked especially in a dog that age.

I personally never breed my girls anymore than 4 times..

Jennine,

I think 4 litters in 6 years is enough, don't you?

Spay her and love her for who she is, and let her finally enjoy just being a dog.

Can she? Well, yeah she could, technically, but then you get to have puppymiller tatooed to your forehead.
Females should be spayed at 6 and not have more than 4 litters. She is at her limit and if she has anymore that would be very irrespnsible of you.

4 litters?? You piece of crap!! There are so many dogs being put down in shelter especially rotts and pitts and mixes and you have the damn nerve to bring another litter into the world. UGH!! Backyard breeders should be crucified if not worse.

Number one reason for deaths in healthy, adoptable dogs -- EUTHANASIA. Too many dogs, not enough homes because of you greedy backyard breeders. UGH!!!!!!!

Please spay your poor dog. She has had enough litters already. Most reputable breeders won't ever breed a dog more than three times in their life, some will only breed a dog once, and never after 5 years old.
Just look at it this way, after having four kids already, would you like to do it again in middle age?

That is enough. She does not need to be having any more puppies. Good breeders SPAY at 6!!!!!!!! Four litters quite enough since they should not be bred until after they are 2 and had OFA's done. Then it is ONE litter yearly until they are 6. Then SPAY!!! She has provided enough pups.
