I need to take her to the vets to have it lanced, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how much I should expect to pay for the whole procedure.

I had to leave my GSD overnight. It cost about $80.00. If you have concerns, ask your vet or the nurse what the procedure will run before handing your pet over. I have yet to encounter a vet who was unwilling to work with a customer who has an animal in need of medical care.

It depends on how bad it is and if the vet does the "quilt stitch" surgery, or just inserts a tube that stays in for several days to keep drainage open. The tube is cheaper, but in some cases it is not an option.
There is a reason that the dog got a hematoma in the first place and usually the cause it an ear infection of loads of fleas. Whatever the reason....that will have to be dealt with also.
Price varies form area to area. Where I am it can be $75 for simple treatment, or $300 for something more complex.

That's a good question. Each vet charges differently. First you have indictable sedative, then the Anesthesia by hour. The procedure and then sedative reversal. Then medication for pain and antibiotics. Also hospitalization. I would say from $250.00-$500.00 Get an estimate before operation.

Oh man that sucks! My boxer had one on his ear also. Took him to the vets to have it lanced. He had to stay overnight. He came home with a cone around his neck. OMG! I went thru two cones. He got hung up going thru doors, in and out of his crate, the wall, the couch, going up stairs. Sniffing the ground to go potty he would get it stuck in the ground, scoop up his own messy with it. It drove me nuts! Not to mention he was completely miserable and everytime he got hung up and coudn't go forward he would freak out. He would yelp when I tried to keep his ear clean. He would shake his head and yelp. The drain never got clogged thankfully. I hope I never have to go thru that again. It cost me $260 Good Luck
