i live in oklahoma and it just passed a bill, or law, or something that does this: "it terminates public assistance benefits to illegals; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens"
and i couldnt be happier
is your state doing anything about the illegal problem?

Illegal=criminal
How do they expect to be treated fairly when they've already spit on our laws by breaking them..how do you get a good citizen from that...
I think they should have to come in the regular way and fill in all the forms , Learn English & work for everything and pay taxes same as I do...getting paid a fair wage for a job well done.

The answer is easy:
Heavily penalize those who employ illegal aliens. Severely sanction businesses that hire or aid them.
But given so many vested interests the execution is very hard.
We have greedy businessmen looking for cheap labor and big profits, short-sighted politicians looking for easy votes, economic inequalities across the border, a very porous border and a public which wants cheap goods but generally doesn't care about how it is provided. In the short run, our economy will suffer if our goods and services are not supported by these illegals. But the reality is that we the public bear the long term costs in terms of medicine, accommodation, education and work.

I think we should deport them all. No matter where they are from. Legal immigrants only please.
Oklahoma is doing the right thing. Before taking over the family farm here in Arkansas, I lived in Oklahoma where I met my husband. If it weren't for the farm, I'd move back in a heartbeat.
Here in Arkansas, Mike Huckabee activated for and got a Mexican consulate in Little Rock which claims to serve illegals in Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma. They are handing out ID's which can be mistaken for US ID's.
Oklahoma should tell them to stay the heck out of OK business and Arkansans should demand closure of the consulate.
Mexican interference with local and state issues/legislation must be stopped. They are also actively protesting actions taken in Irving, TX through the consulate in Dallas.
Our federal government needs to tell Mexico to shut up and clean their own house and that consulates which attempt any interference with local or state authorities will be closed. Foreign government entities are supposed to only negotiate with federal entities, under federal law.
On the bright side, Arkansas State Police has announce they will begin reporting illegal aliens to ICE. That dang consulate has already protested that as well as attempts in Rogers, AR to train officers to identify illegals and turn over to ICE.

Every State should pass such a law.
Why on Earth should MY Tax $$$ go to Illegal Aliens?
Well..............maybe LEO $$$ to deport the Illegals back to their homeland.
@ lametorg....you need to research what % of Illegal Aliens actually work in the fields. I can tell you that it's a lot less than you think. Lettuce or any other produce will NOT go up to $10 or whatever just cause Illegal Aliens aren't in the US. Grow a brain!

Every state SHOULD do this. Maybe it will encourage the illegals to come back legally OR to try to make a change in their own country. If WE take a stand with OUR government, maybe they can take a few lessons back home with them?.?

That is great news for your state. I live in Ca. Sadly, Barbara Boxer and Diane Fienstien are our senators. I believe that there time is over. Hopefully, my state will soon follow your states lead.

Chad, how much money do you make? I bet you don't make over 100k in which case you can't complain about taxation for public and social services, because more likely than not you get a nice return at the end of the year.
What bothers you so much, really? 50 Million "legal, white, black, asian, hispanic" americans have no insurance, but you want to blame illegal immigrants for the dreadful healthcare situation in the US. How about, you read a little about the practices of HMO's, and how much the GOP has supported them in the past, perhaps that is the reason for our mediocre health care system?
No, of course it can't be.
It must be Pancho, who overstayed his visa in order to prevent his children from starving to death, even though he only really goes to the ER when he gets hurt in his life threatening job, which saves you hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year on groceries, supplies and such.
EDIT:
Fair enough chad, but do you realize the importance of this workforce and it's relation to our personal finances?
US schools have trailed Mexican, Asian, European schools for decades, as such we cannot blame issue with education system on illegal immigration.
We simply can't, if you think the cost of supporting illegal immigrants via public funding is high, wait until we have to pay 50 dollars for a bag of apples. Your taxes are gone, in fact you never count on them, because you know they don't belong to you. However, an inflation in the price of consumables due to the deportation of the illegal immigrant workers will be much more noticeable in you pocket...
