If you have a social fear start by maybe joining a small type of club or something to that effect. Check the local paper for community events and introduce yourself to the world slowly.
You could also make frineds online or join a support group in your area and that way you will never be alone.

I had this and recovered,so that is the first answer.right now maybe your therapist has an evening therapy session each day where you can interact with people with similar problems. This gives you somewhere to be besides work and helps over come anxiety. its hard for a week or so then you look forward to it ..honest. believe me there are more people effected with these problems than you can possibly know .I think you will be ok ,it took me 4 months last year, but now I watch for the symptoms, and also take the meds as prescribed take care and good luck

i have bipolar and social anxiety disorder so i know exactly how this feels. my therapist said the best thing to do is go out with people you're already friends with and meet other people through them. it may seem really intimidating at first, but the more comfortable you become the easier it will be to approach people on your own. good luck!
