Seems pretty circular in logic. The faithful are all that make the faith. faith is not a concrete concept that awaits hyumans to pick it up. Faith is a human capacity to believe in the unseen and unproven. It is generally dogmatic in some way, yet it still requires belioeve without proof.

Without the fiathful, there is no faith. I believe you can evaluate a faith by the faithful, because they are all the defines that faith.

Mark Twain said it best:

"There are those who scoff at the school boy, calling him frivolous and shallow. Yet it was the school boy who said, Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

Without the faithful, there is no faith.

How about just getting rid of most faith so as not to confuse the faithful?

"I won't take my religion from any man who never works except with his mouth. ... Never confuse the faith with the supposedly faithful. ..." {by the same}

One can "talk the talk"..

But?

"Can he walk the walk"?

Simple:

One can talk of faith but living it is quite different...

Interesting, but it almost seems pointless. How can you confuse something with something else and they are two different things?

It gels nicely with the statement that Jesus made, `Many will shout `Lord `Lord but I will say I do not know you`
