spirits , cold readings , nonsense?

Question

I don't really speak about my beliefs in detail regarding spirit communication etc
but today I have seen many posts speaking about con men and cold reading etc

so I ask you about one of the readings I have done
it was online ( with someone from R&S )
I desribed their grandfather in detail and gave some more information
the best piece of information I gave them was what language their grandfather spoke ... and it was a language that I had never even heard of
all was confirmed
so I ask you , if I cant see the person I am reading , am not charging for anything I am doing , and giving specific information such as a language spoken ...
is this cold reading , conning someone ?
can you explain it ?

unfortunately for me ... I cant tell you who I was reading ( it isnt my place to )
although it would blooming well help my case here lol

again it is a matter of trust ... I understand that
you guys only know me from here , but I hope you know me well enough to know I am quite an honest person
and I am honestly saying ... I wouldnt know how to cold read if I tried
and Ray ... if it was as easy as asking a question and getting an answer for it , we wouldnt have as many skeptics as we do
unfortunately for the most part , we open to recieve spirit and just pass on what they tell us
otherwise Randi's testing would be a breeze

how would I know a language that I have never heard of ?

ok i have seen cold reading debunked numerous times ive seen james randi do it ive seen penn and teller do it i have even so called psychics who now tell people it was all a scam do it but if you came to me and said something tha no one knew id believe it and i do have something i would ask any person who claimed to be psychic only 1 other person knew the answer to this question and she passed away so if someone such as your self could tell me the answer to that question i would believe it


now if you could answer that question id believe it

Non-believers get ready to give me all your thumbs down....You go Pangel. Speaking from experience, there is no way to explain to anyone what happens when you do a reading. For me the information is just there. I hear it like a thought impression, and sometimes I feel sensations that are important to the information I am giving the sitter. NOTHING can be evil unless it is used for evil, this I wholeheartedly believe. For those who have asked how can in be benevolent? The only reason it is considered not is because Christians and other doubters have encouraged people to believe for so long that psychics, meduims, etc all evil people trying to seduce you to the other side, that no matter how many times we "prove the system wrong" we are still practicing evil magic and witchcraft and we should stop immediately. If you have never experienced the situation, how can you know for sure?!!!!

I love you dearly, you know that, and I dont question your beliefs, I believe you can do what you say you do. But I am still not convinced that its the real dead that we see and talk to, there are many times, I have seen Dave in dreams and in real, but have felt something very wrong with him or around him. It has been a very long time since I have felt his real energy, that energry that tells me it is really him. it hurts a lot that I feel that around him. it makes me question my beliefs even more, it may be that I never get a true answer about it, but I do not believe you are going to hell for your beliefs, nor do I question the fact that you have some very special gifts, God new what he was doing when he gave them to such a very special person, and I am so happy to be Called one of your Babies. I do feel a very strong connection to you, and I know that God brought us here together for a reason. I really do want to just give you a really big (((HUG))))

Pangel, If the Spanish and other languages understood what you asked then even more people would write from their worldly materialistic rut that no human has powers, outside of TV shows or movies.
It has to be reproduced under scientific study or the person has to be a millionaire cheat - because if a human has powers they'd have stocks and money bet on races, etc.
No one believes there is good people anymore, so when you say there are - everyone starts to shout you down.
People can't grasp there is more to being human than what they know, by these answers.

Well I do think you and others have the ability (no doubt).Probably you have it because you seem to open to it and accepting not fearful or maybe just genetics who knows.
As for not being able to read the lotto winnings etc. well that is really not part of the purpose of the ability.
Keep it up don't even think about why or what these others think.
We are all interconnected even after death.

Pangel, I've seen you answer many questions here and I have a certain amount of respect for you, as far as gaining an insight to your personality on here goes, from your answers

however, without meaning to insult you in any way, I do not believe in anyone being able to communicate with the dead or those that have passed on as you like to term them...that being said, I have no proof in contrast

but I've yet to meet any medium that can convince me otherwise

If you don't cheat and don't benefit in any way from doing it, I really don't see how it could be in any way bad or a fraud. Keep doing what you know is a right thing and ignore the trolls and the skeptics.
Trust your instinct and do what you feel is the right thing.
Edit: after reading all the skeptic answers let me just say that it happened to me. A person who had absolutely no means of knowing certain things, whom I've seen for the first time in my life, told me things about myself that I haven't even told to my parents. So yes, I believe it is true.

(and I could SO use a hug right now....)

I can't explain it.

I think most psychics are not really psychic, just very intuitive (enough so that they themselves might believe they're psychic); but I'm open to the possibility I might be wrong.

Can we still be friends even though we disagree?

Edit: I feel I should add something about James Randi. The Randi prize is nearly impossible to win. Randi's people constantly quibble over minor details that are irrelevant to testing psychic ability, and the vast majority of applicants never even make it through all the paperwork to get tested. I think it's just so he doesn't have to pay out the prize if he's wrong.

i don't say all are hoxes but the ones i have dealt with can be explained or done by cold reading, or hot reading, as i live on a small island hot reading is easily done especially if you read the local press but what worries me most is the ones that describe mental illness and say its a psychic ability, such as that john edwards yes her says publicly he hears voices in his head and is still roaming the streats????? but their could be people who can do this sort of thing but i am yet to be convinced

It is not a matter of trust. It is a very straight forward matter of providing evidence; and, since there is no objective basis to believe psychic claims, the burden of proof in on you.

In fact, you do not ‘know’ that what read is correct at all. You only know that you were told it was correct.

Further, one case does not prove anything – including the case itself.
