I was raised Catholic, and I completely embrace my Catholic faith, but in recent years allogations have been made against our priests regarding wicked sexual acts with younger members of our parishes. How do you justify remaining a Catholic despite these atrocities?

Christ promised the Church 2000 years ago that he would never abandon us, that he would be with us until the end of the world. He sent us the Holy Spirit to guide the Church when it teaches about faith and morals. The Roman Catholic Church is infallible when teaching faith and morals. Scandals have always rocked the Church, ever since Judas betrayed Christ. Yet, the Church is calmed by Christ when rocked by scandal, just as when the boat with the apostles was rocked by the storm it was calmed by Christ who is the head. Jesus said that there would be "weeds" and "wheat" in his church, but that the gates of hell would never prevail against it! Don't let scandal destroy your faith, because you know that Christ through the Holy Spirit is guiding the most precious sacraments and the faith. There has been much abuses by the clergy, yet the Church hasn't managed to destroy itself from within or from without, because the Holy Spirit is protecting its teachings. God bless!

The reasons for these sexual abuse cases are many and not as clear cut as people suppose,their is yet to be published the difinative book on this,but also bear in mind that many Pastors of the Protestant persuasion have been guilty of this also, but both pale into comparison with the sex crimes of the laity.
I remain Catholic because it is the one holy Catholic and Apostolic church truly founded on St.Peter and the more I see it attacked by the gates of Hell the more I know it is the church of Christ on Earth.
There was until very recently a website that listed hundreds of these cases among Protestant ministers and strangely has been closed down, it was www.reformation.com.

The actions of a small minority of priests is hardly a reason to consider leaving the Church for me. The reason I stay in the Church is simple: Truth. Other Christian communities do not have the direct connection to Christ that is in the Catholic Church. Most do not have legitimate succession to administer the sacraments. Many lack the totality of the sacramental life of the Church.
I stay because I realize that the Church isn't about me. It doesn't matter what I like the most or what I find the most fun. It is about what is true. Jesus Christ is the Truth who founded the Catholic Church.

I justify it because there are pedophiles in every religion people just hate Catholics so the news gets around quicker. Secondly, there are more pedophiles in our public schools and they're much more close to home than the Catholic priests are.

So you're suggesting that because a few sad, pathetic, weak men perform harmful acts with children, Catholics should renounce their entire belief system. Is that right? By that same logic, men should have sex changes because OTHER men are criminals.
