I used to chuckle to myself when I lived in a neighborhood where there was a very large Catholic church right down the street from my apartment.
On Sundays I used to run a few errands in town which took roughly one hour.
I would pass the Catholic church as the parishoners were going in prior to the mass, and saw all of them looking so miserable. You know, that kind of look that says, "Oh, I wish I was somewhere else right now!:
When I was heading back to my apartment after my errands an hour later, I would see the same parishoners after the mass, leaving the church, and there didn't appear to be any more joy on their faces than an hour before when they went into the church. It was that same miserable look all around!!

I was a catholic, but let me explain I never got ANYTHING AT ALL from the pagentry or lack of teaching what the Bible really teaches, In fact I left the church 33 yrs ago about the same time the new Pope's cousin did (we became Witness of Jehovah the true God), The catholic church along with prodestant churches are simply as Karl Marx put it "an opium for the people" I know know what the Bible DOES TEACH, & I can teach others like Jesus said for all of his followers to do

(Matthew 28:19-20) . . .Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

In fact he said there should be no clergy class at all
(Matthew 23:8-14) . . .But YOU, do not YOU be called Rabbi, for one is YOUR teacher, whereas all YOU are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone YOUR father on earth, for one is YOUR Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for YOUR Leader is one, the Christ. 11 But the greatest one among YOU must be YOUR minister. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13 “Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for YOU yourselves do not go in, neither do YOU permit those on their way in to go in. 14 ——

I do, as a 19 year old Catholic, I have grown tremendously in my faith. In mass, we meet Jesus in the Holy Eucharist (the consecreated bread and wine). Jesus becomes truly and literally present in the Holy Eucharist! He is there, waiting for us to recieve him. When we reiceve the Eucharist worthily and with faith, we are united to Christ physically and spiritually, and we become one flesh! We bear the Son of God incarnate inside of us just like The Blessed Virgin once did 2000 years ago! Mass gives me the grace in the Eucharist to become a better Christian by impregnating me spiritually to bear rightousness and good works. God bless!
