Unfortunately, NO. The __________(fill in with your favorite derogatory term) drove his car into the wall in turns 3&4, about 5 minutes into final practice. Johnson is going to a back-up car.
Edit - WTF??? That "huge" amount of damage was enough to make him go to a back-up car? Oh wait.......Matt Kenseth hit a bug in happy hour....he's gotta go to a back-up car!! Give me a frigging break....... There's GOT to be a reason jimmie's going to a back-up car. Wasn't the primary car illegal enough? Is the back-up car illegal? I've seen cars that were on the verge of being totalled-out, fixed.....and in less time!! C'mon NASCAR do something! Be predictably unpredictable! If that car was broke enough to be unraceable, crush it and make sure they can NEVER run it again, otherwise, make them fix it. It's not as though the frame was bent or anything!!! I'm not even 100% positive he scratched the paint on the corner he hit on. Looked like it was just scraped stickers to me!!

AND.................I thought you watched the Busch race? Do you hear what you wanna hear? He hit the wall in practice and look what happened, he would have won that race if Nascar wasn't so ridiculous! He had the best car out there, and do you remember Kyle Busch was sent back to the end of the line for speeding? He won the Busch race and I really feel Jimmie Johnson would have won that race Sunday at Kansas Don't be a hater because your jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry your wrong nobody cheated.

Knaus isnt busted again. Johnson is starting last because he wrecked the car he qualified in and had to go to a back up car.

Hey, it was because Jimmie hit the wall in practice and they have to go tot the backup car. Another thing, thanks to Chad Knaus the backup cars for the 48 team are better than most team's primary cars.

He pancaked the side in. It was faster to go to the back up than try to fix it. I think people need to listen and learn the facts, and stop thinking tha the only reason that you go to the back is for cheating. As for cheating, I think carls fine was not right, only 25 points (driver and owner) and $25,000 fine. He already has his championship won in the Busch series.GO JIMMIE

Oh sad....why jump to conclusions?!! I was at the track and watched him wreck during practice. It might not have looked like much during slow motion on the t.v., but when you saw it first hand, it was a hard hit. His car limped pretty good, and he was not very happy when he crawled out of the car!

Per Nascar rules LOL if you go to a backup car you must go to the back of the starting grid no matter where you qualify, well that is the rule this week

Yeah, look into it a little deeper before throwing out accusations... as for the damage to his car - the whole side was knocked in.
