Because they speak the 'truth' Bob

Religion at its worse is abuse. Many of the fringe religions are cults, and all religions use a mild form of abuse to ensure the next generation. If you take a young undeveloped mind, and fill it with the fear of god, it is a form of child abuse. You might be doing it for the best of reasons, but you are still taking advantage of a mind unable to fully comprehend abstract thought. And to get the concepts over, you use rewards and threats - heaven and hell.

Like all abuse, the victims are more likely to become abusers in their adult life, thus will try to 'save souls' buy using the same fear tactics on all those that have not been brain washed.

If you are in this loop, you loose the ability to rationally argue about why you are a member. It difficult to hold a mirror up to the face of a person who cannot comprehend thoughts outside of their narrow thinking. I usually use the a quote from the only book they understand, or think they understand, the bible, but this sometimes goes over their heads, for they have never used the scriptures in comparison to any thing else?

Why should you believe.. You shouldn`t unless you come to the conclusion that there is a god. That is by your own personal thought and not by any human interferance. As a historian I would warn you of the great danger of believeing any of the ......... preached by any religious organisation.

By the way I do believe there is a God, but that is personal thinking and not a god given fact.. Stay how you are and if per chance there is a here after, I`ll see you there for a chat..

Firstly it seems to be human instinct to be drawn to the spiritual. Secondly after less than two hundred years of modern science can anyone say they know enough of the universe to say God and spirit doesn't exist. Thirdly you would have to explain the many things that happen to people that science has no explanation for yet it does seem to tie in with what the different religions say about spirit and God. Consider this, the vast majority of the human race at present and through out all of human history has believed in a deity, life after death etc. It is a normal instinct for human being s to go along with cultural norms and we tend to view the abnormal as a destabilising influence and threat to the norm. The current trend against religion and in favour of atheism is just that a trend, a fashion that has strayed from the human norm. You may be willing to risk your life by following popular culture and taking drugs or drinking excessively, but are you willing to risk your eternal self for a popular fad????

Because without God we cannot be truly happy...this is an indisputable fact. We live in a society that has completely sucked God out of every aspect of our lives except if you go to church on Sundays or attend a Catholic School. Is it a coincidence that so many people in this same society are depressed, attempting suicide, and are divorced. Money does not guarentee happiness, as so many rich people in our world are unhappy, look at Owen Wilson's suicide attempt. Bill Gates is extremely rich but you never hear of him trying to kill himself...why? because he gives a great deal of his money to poor countries in Africa (which is why he is no longer the richest man in the world anymore) which gives him a great sense of joy and happiness. You cannot be truly happy without God in your life...that is a fact.

Because there are so many of us that are witnessing of God's power in our lives and the only reason we tell you is because we love you and we don't even know you! We aren't asking for money. I know I jump for Joy over every person that gets saved if they never set foot in the door of a church or never give a red cent. Take a close look at any other religions and you'll see our God is LOVE and he talks to you and that's why so many are inspired even from America to give up every opportunity to be rich and just go preach the gospel and volunteer to preach his name. We have JOY and it's contagious..............and it's from the Holy spirit and God's love How can you resist such a great cloud of witnesses testifying to the glory of God? The earth declares his glory and his handiwork as well.

Don't believe us. Confirm it for yourself.

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. - Acts 17:11

If you do not want to no one has the right to force you. I am certainly not going to try to persuade you, that must come by your seeking the truth with a clear and open mind

nice. rhetorical question. i'll answer it anyway. you shouldn't believe us. you SHOULD believe God. that's the straight up truth... for your own well being. but if you choose not to, then that's your choice.

i also can say pretty confidently that even if someone posted the most convincing answer on here, it wouldn't convince you to change you're mind. because when you asked this question, your mind was already closed.... which is also your choice and i can't force you to open it soo... that's fine.

I guess you'd call me a "believer," I'm a Pagan so I do have gods. Frankly, I don't give a rat's derriere if you believe what I do or not. You can figure things out for yourself. You're a big boy now.
