In other words--having paid to have illegal tinting placed on my windows; having gone through the hassle of getting a ticket; having paid to have the illegal tint removed, and perhaps a hefty fine as well; would I then pay to have more illegal tint put on so that I could be stopped and go through it all again?

No.

Most States have a certain percentage of darkness allowed for window tint. All licensed installers have a list of each States legal percentage. I had my Ohio truck tint job done in Florida and the installer showed me the list of State maximums.

After getting a fix-it ticket, get it tinted again but lighter so it is dark yet, legal!

In Ohio 50% tint. If you get it fixed and then get it put on again the fines/penalties are increased.
