Jesus never hided from the Gentiles. He wanted to make it clear to the Jews that He was the Messiah the prophets spoke about so he focused on the Jews mostly but he didn't shy away from the Gentiles. His disciples rebuked him many times. They rebuked Jesus for speaking with the Samaritan woman at the well. They also rebuked him for spending time with the children.

His mission was not to the Gentiles. He did intend for his message and the atonement to be for all.

John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
