Suppose astronauts were exploring the moon and one day came across what appeared to be an ancient battle field on the moon. This battle field was littered with the bodies of what appeared to be angels. Moreover, it appeared that the angels had been fighting one another.
If such a thing was found, would it affect your religious beliefs in some way? How would you interpret such a discovery?

just a man - I suspect getting beaten with a branch from the tree of good and evil might actually inspire a whole lot more questions with a much higher level of strangeness :)

By "appeared to be angels" I take it you mean the preserved corpses had wings and weapons that looked like harps (kinda thing)
I would be forced to accept that alien civilisations exist. That would be a major slap in the face for how I regard the (nearby)universe, but has no bearing on my atheism. Aliens battling on the moon are still no proof for the existance of God (or gods). I would then assume that mankind's legends of angels and gods may have come from contact with these aliens.
In a kind ofjustification for (God I hate the man) von Danikken's bullsh*t

Of course, since we know all "knowledge that exists in the entire universe" we can with an absolute confidentience state no such thing could happen or be.
We as Christians know there is a heaven, and a hell, but for some other concept or off the "Wall idea be proposed", heavens no. Don't you remember the world is flat, the whole universe revolves around the center ... the earth, man will never fly... : )))

Assuming they found ACTUAL corpses of SOLID creatures, I would assume that an alien race had been found and that those beings had visited Earth a few thousand years ago and were the basis of what we now call 'angels'.

If somebody took a branch off the tree of good and evil, and beat you with it, would stop asking ridiculous questions?

I can't think of any circumstance that would cause me to interpret it as anything but an elaborate hoax perpetrated by religious fundamentalists (most likely American Christian ones), so it would not affect my religious beliefs in any way.

well realistically that could not happen. and no it would not affect my perception of religion. the world has always revolved around good vs evil, that is what keeps the balance of things in check.
