Which would be the best brand to use if I was planning on highliting my hair by myself, like a light blonde color?

Get Frost n Glow if your not wanting brassy under tones.

Revlon - Frost and Glow.
I highlighted my medium brown hair with this stuff and it was really nice and light blonde. It wasn't orange at all.

Look for bleaching kits not "blonde" dye (it makes your hair orange)
Also have someone help you, and don't rub the bleach on your scalp (you will get bald spots - very ugly)
