Because i bought myself the ring yesterday.... and im part irish... and i know the traditions and meanings behind it... so im gonna wear it with the heart facing me... because im in a true love relationship... and i may be only 17 but i know what i feel with my boyfriend... so nobode say anything about that... just can you trll me what it would mean to my boyfriend or anybody that i bought nyself the promise ring... thanx

You buying yourself one and choosing how to wear it completely disregards your boyfriend's feelings. It gives other people the impression you're practically engaged, but he doesn't have a say in it at all. I think it's tacky.

Well, if you know the traditions and meanings behind it, then you must know that you aren't supposed to give yourself a claddagh! Its considered bad luck to do so.
If love is considered (which it is in your case) you should wear it on your right hand with the crown facing out.
I wonder what your boyfriend will think that you gave yourself a promise ring? If anything, I would think he should be giving one to you! Or you to him.....certainly not to yourself!

If everyone knows it's a promise ring and your boyfriend didn't give it to you, then he may be angry that you are trying to push him into a commitment that he's not ready for.
If you keep your mouth shut and no one knows what it is, then you're just some girl who bought herself a pretty ring.

a claddgah ring is not a promise ring. it is simply to tell other laddies if you are taken or not. so wear it with the heart in - it means you are unavaible for courtship - which if this guy is your boyfriend - then true! but until he turns it - or purchases one for to accompany it - it isnt a promise of commitment. if he has any problem tell him its to let other guys get the hint your not available for pick up. theres nothing wrong with it. my grams bought me mine!
