This question is based on these underlying thoughts:

I've read many atheists comments about this--that religious beliefs fly against the face of reason.

The brain is or is not capable of digesting both facts and faith?

How is full bloom of reason differentiated from a little reasoning capacity?

Reason doesn't fully encircle our daily activities. We can choose to have heated sex with a monkey--this isn't reasonable for 99.9999999% of humans. Sometimes lust is way beyond reason. People's choice of favorite foods is way beyond reason... etc..etc.

Fortunately, theism (in the form of organized religion) has not been able to fully thwart reason, but it's very often put up a very good fight.
