The Earth is warming. Some think man is causing the planet to warm, the majority see the Sun as the source for all heat on Earth.

Those who think man is causing the planet to warm typically use the opinions of others to prove their beliefs. Their solutions are to raise taxes and put limits on your freedoms for what they see as the common good.

Those who see that the Suns output is never constant, that nature always has some variations, see the Sun increasing in temps very sightly right now. We can see polar ice caps melting here and also on Mars. These scientist know the change is natural and know if they just sit tight, the sun will cool off again, and so will the Earths climate.

Global warming is natural, and co2 always increases when temps go up. But they are a symptom of warming, not the cause.

“The concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by man has risen significantly during the historical record and it is absolutely known (by reproducible, verifiable lab experiments on the physical properties of these gases) that these gases cause warming by absorbing the outgoing radiation from the earth. The skeptics have not produced any evidence that this rise in the greenhouse gas concentrations occurred by some natural process and they have also failed to explain how all the industrial emissions could have been absorbed by some natural process during the recent historical period. There is no way to explain the observed greenhouse gas concentrations without human interference, and there is no credible way to claim that the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations has not caused a warming of the Earth’s surface. While there are other natural processes at work and while the climate system is highly complex, trying to discount the role of human involvement in recent climate change is speculation and opinion, not science.” - Asher Siebert.

I wanted the easy answer so badly that I didn’t do the homework. Only after I was embarrassed did I stop to take a close look at what I was doing. After I calmed down, I was suddenly able to find the information needed to come to an understanding. It wasn't easy, and it took some time. I came to a very simple and very useful conclusion - I was taken in because I did not understand the fundamentals of the subject. Once I educated myself, the hollowness of the argument became apparent. And I understood how those that I approached for advice dismissed the my argument immediately and out of hand despite my protests. They understood the nuances of the subject and I did not.

Carbon pollution is symptom of the overall problem, and in the first instance it’s a case of guilt by association. Even in the absence of a smoking gun, circumstantial evidence is admissible, and the case is strong indeed.

You're not going to find out the truth on Yahoo answers. You need to do some research.

Here's the real story, from an unbiased source:

When someone gives you arguments against, you can look them up here, and see how they're wrong:

99+% of scientists around the world believe global warming is real and mostly caused by us. And any number of very distinguished people, too.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly, short and long.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know. Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Climatologists know all about changes in the Sun, which are measured by many independent people. Solar radiation has actually been decreasing a bit lately. Proof:

The earth has warmed 1 degree celsius in the past 100 years.

The group that believes man has caused this "extreme" warm-up suggests taxing the rich nations, and their people, because of it. What they plan to do with that money is plant trees (which does little) and sell carbon credits, thereby profiting from their doom and gloom scare tactics.

The other group believes the earth and sun have warming and cooling cycles, similar to what caused us to go into, and come out of, our most recent ice age. They also believe that responsible economic and industrial practices are of the greatest benefit to mankind.

My opinion: America got it right. We developed our technology, improved our standards of living, learned to enjoy life and the environment (responsibly) and are finding new, better, more efficient ways of doing pretty much everything. The world has benefited from our technology, medicine, and economy.

Besides, who are we to say this environment we live in right now is the way it's "supposed" to be. Since the last ice age, the earth has warmed. It will reach a peak, and then begin cooling again. We are somewhere along the warming line.

If the person who stated that "you're not going to find out the truth on Yahoo answers", does not believe that reliable answers and truths can be found in Yahoo Answers, then he is acknowledging that his answers do not conform to truth. Why is he wasting his time and ours? This forum may be a kind of entertainment for many people, however there are honest and serious people, even scientists, whose only aim is to inform with facts and the most recent data, and to motivate the serious participants to use discernment as to what is the truth and what merely ideological propaganda. This basic knowledge should, of course, motivate the reader to conduct a more thorough study on the subject- in this case “man made global warming.”

When we talk about "climate change" indeed we are including the subject of "man made global warming".

Following find 10 Common Misconceptions About Global Warming

Myth 1: Global temperatures are rising at a rapid, unprecedented rate.

Fact: Temperatures have increased around urban areas (“heat islands”) which distorts the overall picture; whereas accurate satellite, balloon and long-term mountain top measurements have observed no increase at all.

Myth 2: The “hockey stick” graph proves that the earth has experienced a steady, very gradual temperature increase for 1000 years, then recently began a sudden increase.

Fact: Significant changes in climate have continually occurred throughout geologic time. For instance, the Medieval Warm Period, from around 1000 to1200 AD (when the Vikings farmed on Greenland) was followed by a period known as the Little Ice Age. Since the end of the 17th Century the "average" global temperature has been rising at a rate of 0.6 to 0.8 degrees Celsius per 100 years; although from 1940 – 1970 temperatures actually dropped, leading to a Global Cooling scare. The hockey stick not only ignores historical fact, but is also scientifically flawed.

Myth 3: Human produced carbon dioxide has increased over the last 100 years, adding to the Greenhouse effect, thus warming the earth.

Fact: Carbon dioxide levels have indeed changed for various reasons, human and otherwise, just as they have throughout geologic time. The CO2 increase was only 0.4% over the last 50 years, rather than the 5% per 100 years quoted by Kyoto. However, as measured in ice cores dated over many thousands of years, CO2 levels move up and down AFTER the temperature has done so, and thus are the result of, not the cause of warming. Geological field work in recent sediments confirms this. There is solid evidence that as temperatures rise naturally and cyclically, the earth naturally produces more CO2 as a result.

Myth 4: CO2 is the most common greenhouse gas.

Fact: Water vapour or clouds, which makes up on average about 3 % of the atmosphere, is the major greenhouse gas. CO2 makes up only about 3% of the greenhouse gases, or about 0.03% of the atmosphere. Moreover, because of its molecular weight and absorptive capacity, water vapour is 3000 times more effective than CO2 as a greenhouse gas. Those attributing climate change to CO2 rarely mention this important fact.

Myth 5: Computer models verify that CO2 increases will cause significant global warming.

Fact: Unfortunately, computer models predicting global warming are incapable of including the effects of the sun and the clouds. Further, the main cause of temperature variation is the sun. Its radiation changes all the time, partly in cyclical fashion. The number of sunspots can be correlated very closely with average temperatures on earth, e.g. the Little Ice Age and the Medieval Warm Period. Varying intensity of solar heat radiation affects the surface temperature of the oceans and the currents. Warmer ocean water expels gases, some of which is CO2.

Myth 6: The UN proved that man–made CO2 causes global warming.

Fact: In a 1996 report by the UN on global warming, two statements were deleted from the final draft. Here they are:
1) “None of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed climate changes to increases in greenhouse gases.”
2) “No study to date has positively attributed all or part of the climate change to ………..man–made causes”

Myth 7: CO2 is a pollutant.

Fact: This is absolutely not true. In fact, CO2 is essential to life on earth. It is necessary for plant growth and its intake causes many trees and other plants to grow more vigorously. If, as the man made global warming ideologues proclaim, CO2 is a polluntant, then the world thrives on this pollutant! Governments do not decide what is a pollutant- true scienice does, not junk science.

Myth 8: Global warming will cause more storms and other weather extremes.

Fact: There is no scientific or statistical evidence whatsoever that supports such claims. Growing insurance and infrastructure repair costs, particularly in coastal areas, are sometimes claimed to be the result of increasing frequency and severity of storms, whereas in reality they are a function of increasing population density and escalating development value.

Myth 9: Receding glaciers and the calving of ice shelves are proof of global warming.

Fact: Glaciers have been receding for hundreds of years; that’s because we are still coming out of the very cool period of the Little Ice Age. Ice shelves have been breaking off for centuries. Scientists know of at least 33 periods of glaciers growing and then retreating. It’s normal.

Myth 10: The earth’s poles are warming; polar ice caps are breaking up and melting and the sea level rising.

Fact: The earth is variable. The western Arctic may be getting somewhat warmer, but the eastern Arctic and Greenland are getting colder. The small Palmer Peninsula of Antarctica is getting warmer, while the main Antarctic continent is actually cooling.

this is not an argument it real

Man has changed climates all over this planet for thousands of years and today more than ever ,the quest for ethanol is making it even worse

by deforestation

Forests absorb heat from the sun and produce humidity
people have been removing forests for ever
and with all these forests gone the place gets hotter just from that

Most of Spain is a dessert because of the timber cut to build the Spanish Armada (the Spanish changed the climate in Spain)
Lebanon was deforested to build the Phoenician fleet it is now a desert ,Man changed the climate in Lebanon
Ghengas Kahn burned all the forest and filled all the wells with sand ,turning vast regions in to desserts in Asia.Man made climate change

I have seen lands in Africa (i was there for 23 years)that have been turned from jungle into desserts by people in a matter of a couple of years ,because of the slash and burn method used by settlers and expanding agriculture,(man made)

I have seen rivers dry up because of deforestation in many places in Africa and Mexico ,(been here 7 years)Man made

I live now by the side of a river in Mexico where,in 30 years 5 species of fish have become extinct .
and part of the year the river is dry this is for longer every year because of over use of water by agriculture and as a result of deforestation.Man did this as well

There are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existence ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential components that ensure living conditions for all life forms

In recent times thousands of people have died because of excessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,

In China, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have buried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were ,got to hot for them .Because of over use of fertilizers ,over grazing ,and over pumping carbon aquifers(MAN MADE)
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and this will drastically effect the world food prices, when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost disestablishing governments, in some countries ,could be the result

(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year( and that was originally deforested by people ,and you cannot replant in the hot sun of the equator)(MAN MADE)
and most of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,

Collectively this planets arable lands are drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing, use of chemicals and fertilizers,(MAN MADE)

As far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in land loss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

Every year more land loss because of desertification ,we have less arable land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

And there is less and less potable water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,

More and more Farmers are over pumping deep carbon aquifers to irrigate.
and are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,

Collectively because there is so much of it all over the world ,the global precipitation is affected and so is the climate .

As for the Sun
when younger i used to handle the African sun or lie on the beach in Portugal getting brown ,all day long.

But lately ,few people can handle continues exposure with out getting burned

And everywhere i have been ,Sun block has almost become essential for beach bums .

The sun is getting hotter,

AND

The rains here in Guerrero have never been as potent as this year ,in the seven years that i have been here .
this is partly because of Hurricane Dean (which is not far away),

but could it also be that a much hotter sun is evaporating more water from the seas???

hot from the press, yahoo news release 1 minute ago

As Predicted, Global Warming Fuels More Tropical Rainfall
Scientists had predicted that global warming ought to increase rainfall in the tropics. Now NASA researchers say it has.

NOTE
And we are NOT even talking about global warming because of pollution ,this is just Man made climate changes because of agriculture and expanding populations of today ,and global warming is changing the climate as well

the indirect climate changes caused by contaminations and subsequently Global Warming is something else
