You need to tell an adult. Cutting is a very serious problem.

YOU don't do anything. Cutting is a mental disorder. She needs psychiatric help. Generally, cutters feel so bad on the inside that cutting themselves is calming and feels better than the way they feel inside.

It's not your problem. You do not need to get caught up in the drama. If you want, you can tell her mom.

Hi... self injury is very common in people who are depressive and who have been abused (sexually most of the time) and/or have grown up in an alcoholic home.

You can find more information about self injury by doing a yahoo web search.

Please tell her parents, or yours. Someone needs to let her parents know... your friend needs some good, medical help.

take care

Before you do anything, first let your friend know that you are there for him/her. Most likely, he/she is not going to want you to tell anyone about the cutting...but since cutting is a serious problem, it's hard NOT to do anything about it. Key point: just let him/her know that you're there to support him/her - ask him/her if there's anything you can do to try and help him/her. Respect his/her privacy, but at the same time, let him/her know that you're worried and concerned about him/her. Since you can't directly change his/her problem, maybe consider providing him/her with some help-lines or help resources. 'Til then, just be there for him/her if he/she needs to talk or if he/she needs help - that's the most you can do.

You need to talk to her and try and get her to share what is upsetting her with you. If you find out what it is then you can start trying to deal with that problem and making her a happier person only then will she be able to stop. When someone beings to cut them self they then start using it as there only outbreak for there anger or upset so you just need to try and be for her and give her a diffrent way of dealing with it.

First off, dont listen to the crap about sexual abuse and cutting... i have yet to meet a cutter who has been sexually abuse (my apoligies to anyone who fits this). tell a school councellor, but do not tell her parents! it is one thing to betray a trust and telling a councellor but tellling the parents will break a trust, sometimes beyond repair. be here for her, and dont abandon her...she needs you now more than ever.

all you need to do is be there for her...hold her let her talk about anything or you dont even need to talk let it just be silence. Tell her parents and maybe suggest counseling ask her why shes doing it...and see if you can come up with sumthin proactive to do for her. Keep her busy when your with her, keep her mind active and dont let her mind wander
good luck

It is best that you inform their parents so that they can start her on Self Injury therapy. This may strain your friendship but they will be a healthier person in the end.
