The first two were spoken by Jesus.

John 8:12
"I am the light of the world."

Matthew 5:14
"You are the light of the world."
*******
Genesis 1:15-18:

"and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good."

No connection at all. The account in Genesis is referring to God's creation of the sun, moon and stars -these include all heavenly bodies. The verses from Matt and John are referring to spiritual light in a dark world.

No theological conection at all. Merely the use of a particular word (light), one usage literal and the other spiritual.

I don't see any connection, really. One is talking about Jesus, and the other is talking about the sun, moon, and stars.

I guess you could say that Jesus is there to light the way for mankind to return to God.
