I salute the DMV clerk who said he would REFUSE to issue a license to anyone who couldn't prove they were a citizen! Took alot of guts to stand up and say 'THE BUCK STOPS HERE!"
Now some of the politico's are jumping on the bandwagon saying they will sue the State if this continues.

jestersand-- first if all they are using their DL for is ID in the event of a accident of any kind, then given dog tags instead, or a photo ID when they cross the border LEGALLY. As for pulling government funding, Yes they should. I also disagree with them receiving welfare benefits. I pay my taxes and my understanding was that they were intended to help needy AMERICAN families, not ILLEGAL residents, so I think that agencies that are giving benefits to anyone NOT a citizen should also be denied government funding in the amount that the Illegals are receiving only. (if illegals are receiving say 5000 a month for benefits, then government funding to that particular location should be decreased by 5000). As far as medical. The illegal parents should NOT be entitled to any health care, (or the Mexican government should have to pay the bills) BUT the CHILDREN, legal and illegal SHOULD receive medical benefits. The children can not be held accountable for the parents actions. So by all means, we as Americans, need to get together and have congress change and enforce a lot of different laws concerning ILLEGALS. Something does need to be done, and done soon.

I am against illegal immigration but I am really on the fence about this one. I think that illegals only right should be a safe trip home to their own country however (seeing that they drive all the time without a license anyways), we should give them one for the safety of everyone else. My grandmother got into a wreck with an illegal. If he would of had a license and insurance in the first place, she wouldn't of been left to foot the bill for the repairs for her car. Also, insurance would be cheaper for the rest of us and there would be less car wrecks.

Think about what is said here... ILLEGAL immigrants are to be allowed drivers licenses. That's fun... the thought of people who might not even be able to speak the language being able to drive... They should not be allowed licenses, health care or ect. They deserve a one way ticket back to what ever country they came from. I have no problem with immigration but I have a problem if it's by illegal means. 400 years ago people came over illegally to get away from the problems in their own countries and they soon enough formed their own country which is called America. Now there're laws for immigration. Had there been strict laws for immigration back then... we might not be over-run with 300,000,000 people.

No. They are not legal U.S. Citizens and WE need proper proof of our residency and our identity before WE can get a driver's license.
As to the argument that they SHOULD be allowed one for the safety of others? Ummm, HOW does a license guarantee they aren't just sh*tty drivers and cause problems anyway?? It happens with "real" citizens all the time.......

They are illegal so they not only should not get a license, they should not be here in the first place. The only drive that they should get from the United States is a drive back to the border.

No. This is a security issue as well as an immigration issue, but 'no' on both points. All benefits to illegal immigrants need to be removed except emergency health care prior to deportation. It shouldn't be 'easy to live here' for them, and certainly they should get no official documentation of any sort.
I know all about the arguments on the other side, and when there were only a few illegal immigrants and a few benefits for them they made more sense. Now it adds up to an incredible magnet to bring them here. That is particularly so regarding the schools, but the entire benefits package needs to be dismantled.

illegal aliens be issued a drivers license is an insult to over 3000 people lost from attacks of 9-11.If Bush is fighting a war on terror if they all move here they can get all the needed documents and be able to vote.

Illegals shouldn't be given ANYTHING.
I came to the US legally, which means I passed all the required criminal and health checks, and proved that I would not be a burden or a drain on the country. I am entitled to NO welfare, and I had to pass the NH drivers' tests just the same as everyone else does.
So, why should someone who came here ILLEGALLY be given special treatment????
