No, not for the items you mention...but I would say we are better of mentally and spiritually. We don't worry about heaven, hell, worship, praying, worrying about beliefs and if we're following them properly, worrying about what the bible says or how to interpret it, worrying about what to believe and not believe theistically, worry if I we pious enough or not...

lol. I work the front desk of a hotel making $9.50 an hour (though I had a temp job working at the local College over the summer for $13 an hour). I don't own a car. I don't have any kids. I live with my grandmother.

Does that sound like I'm more well off than the religious?

Of course, most of the people I know are Christians and they're in the same boat as I am.

As for being better... well thats a matter of opinion isn't it? If you mean "not blinded by religion, with a great education" then yes. Again, most of the Christians I know have never been to university or college but I have been.

No. I work a regular job as a sales associate and bring in a moderate income that is enough for me to survive. I don't think ones point of view on religion should impact their social standing. Its discrimination for an employer to not hire or fire someone just because they find out they are either Atheist or religious. I have many Jewish, Christian, and Muslim friends who all vary in their net income. When talking to the ones who are more successful, never once did they mention its because they believe in God.

Bill Gates is an atheist. Just throwing that out there. I guess I'm more successful than most theists I know, but there are millions of ways to become successful. Being atheist has nothing to do with it.

Better off? Certainly not at the moment in terms of sheer income. But the point of college is forgoing a few years of low-wage earnings for being able to recoup them down the line.

Ask me again in five years.

I'm not a big fan of materialism, so I don't rate my life based on terms of what kind of car I drive or how much nifty stuff I can shove in my home. Of course, there are plenty of very highly educated, wealthy atheists out there. Same goes for theists....

Why? Do you want to be an atheist if there are better perks? Faith or lack of faith in a deity does not make one better off that others. Hard work and perseverance does. So, get off the couch and get a job.

No. I am an atheist, and I do not care about comparing my material possessions against my theist counterparts. I am satisfied with what I have. I could care less about what other people have.

I am satisfied about my life, and my peace of mind. Are you?

I have no limits as to what I can say or how I live my life. I have a job that I filled out applications for, nobody helped me.

I won't have kids.

I don't believe in money.

I don't give a hoot about cars.

Yet, it seems that all three are closely related in this household.

I personally define "well-off" as how happy I am, how happy my kids are, how happy my husband is. Stuff is just stuff. And yes, I feel I am much better off now that I am no longer a theist.
