I wonder if it has something to do with carbonation, or if it's just not what we're used to.

It's kinda' like in the summer time, I like my house really cold, but in the winter time, I like it much warmer. I can't stick with one temperature, like 72 degrees. I just can't do it. Although I can drink room-temperature coffee if I'm desperate enough.

It's probably not the carbonation. Room temperature water tastes hot too if you're used to ice water.
A more basic, related question is: why do water and Pepsi taste best cold, while coffee tastes best hot? I'm not sure what the answer to that is.

It's because it's not at the temperature you're used to drinking it. Coffee if normally hot so when it is at room temp it is colder than you are used to drinking it so it tastes cold. But when Pepsi is room temp it is hotter than you are used to drinking it so it tastes hot.

I have noticed that. It's really weird.
Want to know something else that's weird? (besides me) If you've been to the dentist, and had a shot of novacaine.... cold items (like milkshakes) feel hot to the numbed area, and hot items (like coffee) feel cold. Blew my mind.

its just not what ur used to if u were used to drinking cold coffee it would taste hot

It does have to do with the carbonation and all the artificial ingredients they add to it.
Whereas, coffee doesn't have those things.

Yes I have noticed that.
