Why is it that in this day and age people readily accept the stories in the Bible and other holy books....
A woman is impregnated by god;a virgin no less
All of jesus' miracles:healing sick people by just touching them, raising people from the dead, walking on water, turning water to wine, Jesus himself being resurected
Have you ever seen something like these things happen? Of course not, its impossible. So why do we accept today that these things happened? Doesnt it seem just a little irrational?

No it doesnt bother me or affect me one way or the other. No one is trying to convert me. Im just wondering the logic behind believing these stories.

Magic frees the mind to imagine and believe anything. Why do we tell our children fairy tales? It's because they will listen intently put themselves in the story. It's great for young minds to think beyond reality. That's what childhood should be, free of the worries of real life.
When adults embrace fairy tales with the same zeal it's disturbing. How can they raise rational adults when they can't be rational themselves?

I understand your question and I hope it is an honest question. All miracles are the same to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Meaning that any miracle is just as easy as any other. All miracles have one thing in common, the conversion of some on from lack of faith to faith. No matter the physical effects seen in our world the hidden goal of the spirit was to bring some one or many back to the father through faith even if it started in seeing a miracle. With that understanding I would say that are still miracles occurring. Not the ones on TV but the ones were you can clearly see some ones life has been forever altered by a single moment of true clarity and love offered only by the Holy Spirit in union with the Christ to the Glory of the Father.
I hope I am and will remain a miracle.

well, let's see, how can I put this?
Have you ever had a back massage where it seems like you are being poked to death with iron tongs, and the result seems to be right, but not without a whole heck of a lot of discomfort?
And then, have you ever had a massage, where the person massaging you just touches you with their fingertips, but it is so soothing and restful that you can't figure out how they fixed your muscle fatigue without much effort on their part?
I think that sort of experience holds the key to the answer you seek.

I think many are just doing it out of habit without looking in to things properly.
Maybe they had it instilled in them from being a child, or they've just accepted what other people have told them without studying properly themselves.

There is only one begotten son of God. All of the things you mentioned are about him.
We believe that all of the things you have said about Jesus Christ are true by accepting the gift of faith.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.

quite simply, humans find it easier to accept things without taking time and energy to find out for themselves. Sad but accurate

No because Man needs something to hold on to, to believe in even if he can't see it with his own two eyes. That's why it's called blind faith. Without it we'd be lost.
