It's said that God can't make mistakes. What can we call THAT action on his part? That's vindictiveness nearly to the infinite power! Not to mention irrationality. And is the opposite of the temperance and fairness that Jesus demonstrated, during His ministry. (And Jesus IS God -- so go figure!)

There is no such concept as Original Sin in Judaism. You know, that as a result of Adam and Eve, we are all born sinful, filthy like rags, worthless, with blemished souls, and unable to do anything about it ourselves.

I believe this is literally child abuse to teach this to children. It's horrible. I cannot even IMAGINE a Jewish mother sitting down and telling her children that this is what they are. It would never happen.

This concept only exists in Christianity - the Church invented it for reasons of retaining power and control over its followers, nothing more. The concept does not now, and never has, existed in Judaism which believes we are all born with clean, unblemished souls, straight from God. And that it is what we do with our thoughts, words and deeds AFTER we are born that determines whether we blemish our souls or not - it is OUR responsibility, that's what free will is all about.

Hope at least that helps clarify who does and who does not have this concept of Original Sin, and why.

Because the later generations also committed the same mistake --- SIN.
Nobody is blameless. And if a JUST God punished Adam & Eve for their 'mistake', then the same JUST God will also punish the later generations for their OWN mistake.

God, who is also loving, offered a solution (an action on his part), a sacrifice for SIN and yet some would still deprive themselves of this solution.

How can you say that God made a mistake when Adam and Eve sinned? Or are you saying that each succeeding generation's punishment is unjust? Each person from Adam on has a free will, and can choose right or wrong. God made us this way didn't He? Why would God make robots who love Him? Wouldn't He rather His creation love Him out of the choice of their own heart? We condemn ourselves when we make wrong choices. God is not vindictive, He is a God of love. OUR CHOICES are what determine our judgment or justification. God has revealed Himself to all mankind, past, present and future, see Romans chapter one. Each person CHOOSES. God does not choose for us !

We shall be judged for our own sins and not Adam's transgressions.

22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.
25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.
26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

Things to consider:
1. God knows everything.
2. God has a perfect design.
3. Adam was not just a man but a representitive of Mankind (we have all sinned through Adam) we all have the knowledge of good and evil.
4. Jesus represents the "second Adam" what Adam should have been.
5. God is JUST in our punishment but provided a way for eternal life for those who reject him (everyone through Adam) - all it takes is believing in him.
6. God now has an even better place for those who believe IN Him and what His son did.
7. For those who have accepted Christ we are declared righteous as if we never sinned.
8. Irrationality is based on our HUMAN and limited minds.
9. It would be irrational to believe that Jesus was God's son but not God. Jesus would've been of God's essence correct? like genes, except if you are part of something ultimate and perfect you would have to be the same. You can't take something imperfect from something perfect. God didn't create Jesus (hence-the virgin birth), but He created man.

What Adam and Eve passed down to us is the *propensity* to sin. At that point it up to our own wills whether we will sin or not. But, the bible points out that all of us have sinned - and if we say we are without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. I personally cannot think of one of the 10 commandments I haven't broken (Jesus said that hating someone in your heart is a sin like murder, and that lusting after a woman you aren't married to is like committing adultery with them in your heart).

"Nobody's Perfect" is a popular saying, but somehow when Christians say it, people recoil!

1.Adam and Eve were the representatives of all mankind. Thus when they sinned, we all sinned.
2. Their sin has been passed on to all of us through our ancestors throughout the centuries.(Genetics). Think of sin like an inherited disease and you will understand better.
3.Our sinfulness is proof of this event and proof that we, too, are sinners.
4.None of us would have made a different choice than Adam and Eve.
5. Sin has infested all of creation. If God did not judge us then He would not be holy or truly just. However, God did provide a way to escape His judgement through Jesus Christ
6. Jesus Christ used Genesis in His teachings as literal history.
7. If sin had not been passed on to us through our descendants then Christ's sacrifice was not necessary, yet He claimed otherwise.
PS> Judaism does in fact believe in the Original Sin because it is recorded in the Book of Genesis as a fact and the Book of Genesis is part of the OT, and the OT is the Bible used by Judaism-Genesis and all. Peter knew this was so when he preached his first sermon to the Jews. He didn't need to lay down the foundation because they already had the foundation. Paul preached creation and the fall of man first to the Greeks, before going into the Gospel, because the Greeks did not have this foundation.
The Bible clearly teaches that the sin nature is inherited by us all. That is why we continue to sin. This Original Sin separated mankind from God and resulted in death and disease. The only way to bridge this sin-gap between God and us is through Jesus Christ. Sin and death are inherited. We are all born in sin/with the sin nature. The Bible clearly teaches this in the OT and NT. One only needs to read it to see this

Get ready for a list of excuses a mile long...

Man made the choice, but didn't God already know that it was going to happen? So didn't he "pre-plan" cursing all of humanity for the actions of 2 people? Does this make any sense?

and Whitney, I am positive that everyone who suffer didn't do anything to deserve. 100% sure of this.

NO Jesus is not god, they are seperate figures. And God DOESNT punish us for that, we get punished for all the things WE SEPERATELY do wrong. In fact, if Adam and Eve hadn't sinned, NONE OF US would be down here right now because they wouldn't have felt any joy or sadness, or wanted any children, and they repented anyway so THEY were forgiven.

God is not punishing us for Adam and Eve's sin. This is Calvinist teaching and not the teaching of the Bible.

God punishes us for our own sin. We experience spiritual death once we sin.
