Can the water you buy at wal mart have the ameoba in it that eats the brain? can salt water kill it?

No. First, tap water is too cold (your hot water is heated AFTER it enters your home). Second, the water is purified and bacteria killed before it gets to your home.

No.. the odds of having a brain eating ameoba in your tap water is slim to none.. tap water goes through a rigourous filtration process before it enters the pipes in your home. Also, i dont think the ameoba will survive the temperature changes in the water..

If this is a real worry for you, you might want to boil all and any water you drink for the next little while.
Bear in mind that the Authorities who supply our drinking water do NOT want a million court cases etc - SOOOO if the water in the taps had even a HINT of a bug, they would make sure that the public knew and AVOIDED drinking it.
P.S. During the recent floods in England, this is exactly what happened - people were made aware that the water wasn't safe - I promise you its not going to happen anywhere else unless a similar natural catastrophe happens first.
BOILED WATER IS ALWAYS SAFE WATER, if you're worried.

I just read in our paper about this bug and it was stated specifically that the people killed were swimming or wading in warm, standing water. And they also said that it is extremely rare for this to happen. So..no..I would guess drinking water is quite safe.
