Today the god hypothesis has ceased to be scientifically tenable ... and its abandonment often brings a deep sense of relief. Many people assert that this abandonment of the god hypothesis means the abandonment of all religion and all moral sanctions. This is simply not true. But it does mean, once our relief at jettisoning an outdated piece of ideological furniture is over, that we must construct some thing to take its place.

Arrogance?? HAH!
I am an immortal being with a problem. I am not perfect. And perfection is the standard. It's only pure LUCK that there IS a God out there who DOES love me. Otherwise, I'd REALLY have a problem.

And since when was natural science qualified to measure the supernatural?

Do you mean ""why do you need a God since God is love?

Since God existed before He created everything you can observe, maybe denying His existence is pure arrogance.

Answer: You simply can not observe your way to God. It is a leap of faith. Love or no love.

For the same reasons you would want your parents to love you. Do you consider that being arrogant?

As an example, If you didn't know that somebody existed, you could not possibly know what you need from that person.

Once you met this person and found out how much this person loves you, then you would want this person's love in your life.

God is not a person, but this is the best way I know to explain it. Once you feel God's love, you never want to be separated.

Would you want to be separated from someone who loves you in a way that was more profound than anything you have ever experienced in your entire life?

Your definition of arrogance is a person believing that God loves them. Interesting concept of arrogance. How does that apply to pets? If you desire a pet does that make you arogant? How about goldfish? Does enjoying goldfish make you arrogant?

The answer to your question is, no one needs God to love them. God loves people. Period.

Not arrogance - fear. Freud said that when he saw the people, all afraid, looking for some big daddy god to protect them, he couldn't help but feel compassion for them.
