I guess fluffy wuffy has a low IQ and a belief in Santa Claus... per "its" answer to this question.
I try to question my beliefs at all times; I was an atheist then an agnostic now an IGnostic. That's because I am in the process of understanding what *I* mean by the word "God". Some people take God to simply be the "spirit of the universe, its sum processes and forces" which does not necessarily imply a consciousness. I question how the universe began because NO good answer to this question has arisen. That does not mean that I don't subscribe to the Big Bang hypothesis - indeed, as a former cosmologist I do - but that doesn't explain what came "before" (an inappropriate term given that our notion of time begins with the Big Bang... but a necessary one). I am of the opinion that perhaps anything CAN exist including what we currently ascribe to the supernatural because we are limited by our current knowledge and perhaps our senses. However, that doesn't mean that it DOES exist.
Not sure I've answered your question but I suppose I can't because my assumptions are constantly (hopefully) evolving.

As a contemplative, deeply influenced by Buddhist practice, my spirituality is founded on questioning assumptions.
So "one" provisional assumption -- that it is worthwhile to examine our assumptions -- which then ends up being verified in the productive results and is therefore no longer just an assumption.

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Indeed, beliefs are quite assumptive;
assume makes an @ss of u and me.
Believers do well, as well as devils: James 2:8,19;
Notably by believing in the royal law (royal dung).
So higher exhortation is believe not: Mt 24:23,26.
Don't believe, rather try(test) the spirits: 1John 4:1.
Far better to know truth than to believe lies.
Know truth makes u free of believe lies(laws).
Truth: Grace is: sufficient (law isn't).
So trade your beliefs(laws) for His Grace.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

1.) The world is more or less as it appears. Issues of comprehending scale may make observation and comprehension of very large or very small things difficult, but not insurmountable.
2.) Reason and observation are useful ways of attempting to understand the world around us.
That's pretty much all atheism requires. There is no red pill or rabbit hole.

All my assumptions have now been replaced with scientific facts that my God Yahweh and Jesus exist and all other gods don't.

The only assumption I make is that no one truly knows all there is to know about God.
I trust God to reveal to me what He wants me to know. Beyond that, I assume I know very little of all there is to know.

I don't "feed my belief"! - it feeds me because it
is real and I am learning more and more - if it
were false, that would not be the case!

I don't know that I make any "assumptions" - but I do have faith. Perhaps you see those as the same. I don't.
