Allies in WW2 (for six years) a testament to their military ability and strategic skills?

I know Japan fought in the Pacific Theater, but Germany fought more opposition and fought on the Eastern Front. That part of WW2, fought against the Soviet Union, Romania, and Bulgaria, was one of the largest, deadliest, and destructive theaters of war in recorded history. It eventually gave rise to the Soviet Union as a superpower and brought the demise of the Third Reich.

There were other Axis powers, if they deserve being called powers, besides Germany and Japan. Italy was one, but what did they really contribute besides their land space. Mussolini was Hitler's puppet. Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Thailand, and the Slovak Republic were involved but mainly out of fear of being invaded and having their government being taken over by Germany. So besides Germany in Europe and Japan in the Pacific, who else really put up a serious threat to the Allies?

By no means am I a Nazi apologist or support any Nazi ideologies. They don't even like Black people so it would serve me no purpose anyway. But I admire they're advanced technology and military know how during WW2. Of course it wasn't perfect, as they should have never tried to invade Russia.

I don't think there's any denial that in the early 40s Germany had the best military around, if Hitler had been a little more patient and let his generals run the war things would have been very different.

True, Germany's decision to invade Russia was one of, if not the biggest mistakes of WWII. But, would u expect "little, unknown nations" at that time to fight on their own against a later "Superpower" in the Soviet Union and the British? Come on, with the daring, and courageous British with the desperate, militaristic Soviets, how could one nation compete? It doesn't matter if they built up troops for so many years, or how technologically advanced u are. The Germans were already doomed!

While they did have advanced weapons in the early stages of the war do not forget some facts that helped the Germans and Japanese out:

1) Both countries prepared for war while their neighbors only paid lip service to their military needs.

2) Both countries attacked first. Attackers can choose the time and place that is most convenient for them and guarantees the greatest chance of victory.

3) After their initial gains both Germany and Japan fought a defensive war. Defense favors the defender 8:1 in land never mind urban (Europe) and amphibious (to include river and sea borne) operations.

4) The Soviet Union started out passively on the German side. (see invasion of Poland history)

5) Great Britain had an obligation to defend all of its' territories / colonies. To defend everywhere is to defend nowhere. In other words you can not hope to defend every British subject in every British protectorate across all 24 time zones.

6) None of the allies had their industries tooled up for war production in '38.

7) The Germans led the WORLD in tactical doctrine of mobile warfare and submarine advancements. The Japanese had the most advanced aircraft carriers and maneuverable carrier based fighters in the world.

8) The allies incorrectly refused to target the German electrical grid. The Germans were always in short supply of copper.

Overall the Germans and the Japanese militaries were superb but just could not evolve with the changing tactics or were not supplied as well. Both were hobbled by politicians overriding the military in its' prosecution of the war. (sound familiar? ---Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq)

You manage to ask and stage manage answers for your own questions, I would say you are an apologist for the iii reich as you have absolutely no idea about the misery and suffering the nazis caused western Europe. A war which they, the nazis caused and paid the consequences, and here you go trying to make out they achieved something great.

You have not even managed to include a list of all the countries involved in WW2, your research is NONE existent.

NAZI LOVER RAUS!!!

What the hell had Thailand got to do with the III reich and WW2??

"Of course it wasn't perfect, as they should have never tried to invade Russia."

So apart from invading Russia, the nazi occupation of Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Belgium, France, etc was OK?

The killing of millions of Jewish and other ethnic minorities was OK??

The total control of the German people by military dictatorship was OK??

The programs of euthanasia launched against German handicapped and mentally ill was ok??

The hundreds of thousands of Western Europeans taken into slavery was OK??

The pillage and rape of occupied lands was OK??

You sure are one sick puppy with regards the people you profess to admire!!

Which I find astonishing considering how the colored population of the USA was brought there and the conditions they were / are forced to endure!!!

In the modern age you may be correct but if you look back in history empires have taken over larger land masses. Romans, Monguls, just to name a couple. Germany made a land grab a priority and pushed aside morality to gain all that it could. They were very formidable and winning the war was not a foregone conclusion. I dont believe anyone is going to question the power of the Third Reich, their motives on the otherhand, VERY questionable..

You may be giving too much credit to their military, in that the Germans had so much money stolen from Jews and other people from the countries they first invaded. They also had many thousands of slave laborers to manufacture war materials, and do menial tasks to free up German men to enter the battle.
They also gained from a lot of stolen resources.
However, the German soldiers were much better disciplined than their enemies, and their officers would not hesitate to shoot retreating soldiers.
The Japanese soldiers were even more determined to fight to the last man.---If not for the A-bomb, we might still be trying to dig them out.
