A fry daddy is for Deep Frying, and although it makes the process much safer than deep frying, in a large pan, you can fry foods in your frying pan with less oil or fat.
Sometimes, you can use very little oil and some water.
The water will precook the meat and cook-off allowing you to brown your meat and giving you a crisp outside.
If you prefer to cook in more oil, you can use a half to an inch depth of oil in a frying pan, but don't leave the stove, if you have small children!

It depends on what you are trying to fry. You can always heat oil in a frying pan and do things like french fries, onion rings, etc. You don't need a fry daddy or the like to do things like that. If you were thinking of deep frying a turkey then you will need a LARGE vat of oil.

Depends on what you want to fry and how much.
Generally, a Dutch oven (stew pot) type pot with a couple cups / inches of oil -usually an oil with a higher flash point- vegetable /peanut & heat. Unless it's fish you're frying, you can save the oil for next time- (let it cool and transfer to a glass jar or clean coffee can) Heat it to high- sizzle, that's just when it starts to steam and smell; put, say, your DRIED potatoes in and make sure you have a non-plastic slotted scoop spoon. If your ingredients are wet it will splatter and burn everything it touches- use oven mits and an apron or T-shirt you don't care about. It generally only takes a couple of minutes. Scoop and put in a bowl with paper towels to catch the excess grease. Season after it's out of the oil.
For a specific recipe just surf and search-
WARNING: Oil is hot and flamable. Make sure you have a lid to cover the pot with to smother any possible fires and have baking SODA on hand in case you set something on fire. Water only makes grease fires worse. Fire extinguishers are highly recommended in kitchens.
Good luck. God bless. Love you!

yes, depends what you want to fry....
if you want to fry pieces of chicken for example take a pan, put some oil in it and fry it. Be careful the oil will splatter probably.

You can always stand in the shower with a live electric cable.

If you have no frying pan, use a large saucepan, it will give you the same results, just a smaller space.

you must have a frying pan, cooking oil to start it all.. but if you don't have, you can also use casserole, your rice cooker too (that's what I've been using way back in my college years living in a boarding house)

Is it too much to ask that you purchase a frying pan?
