I would not want to take drugs that have side effects.Vitamin and mineral ,and amino acid defiencys can cause depression. Also thyroid and adrenal insuficiency can cause bi-polar disorder. The B-complex 100 caps are very helpful for depression. The herbs st.johns wort and 5HTP are natural antidepressants.Check out the book Prescription For Nutritional Healing. Also check out Mary Shomon`s yahoo group called thyroid, because thyroid and adrenal problems may be part of your problem.

Not necessarly. You might just have to find the right one. Most do have side affects though. There are some people that give up because they don't like the way they make them feel. If that is the case then try an alternative therapy, like acupuncture or valerian, eat a balanced diet and take a rich nutritional supplement, exercise, get moderate sun or full-spectrum light exposure year-round.But are these alternative approaches truly effective? That’s a tough question, and it depends on what you mean by “effective.”

For a drug to be effective it should work better than a placebo, but in most drug studies the placebo itself often has a measurable success rate—often around 20 percent. Thus, even if an alternative therapy is no more effective than a placebo, you’re still left with a one in five chance of feeling better at the end of the day. For some people, even this 20 percent chance of feeling better is worth it. Good luck.

You get that "spaced out" feeling due to the drastic change in your seratonin levels. When you have huge spikes and valleys in your seratonin levels, you normally notice a change in how happy you feel. The increases in seratonin usually make a person feel happier, and the decreases make you feel down. However, these spikes and valleys can cause some instances where you feel "spacey" or dizzy. Also, if you were to just stop taking the medicine without tapering off, it could have serious side effects. Some side effects can be stronger feelings of depression, confusion, and even suicidal thoughts. Most anti-depressants work by normalizing the hormone levels in your body, and when you just stop without lowering the dosage it can have strong repercussions. Stopping without tapering off might not cause any side effects in you as every person is different. But it's simply not worth the risk.

No, those are the common side effects of the drugs. You just have to deal with it, if not try Lexapro or a new anti-depressant or decrease your intake. Chest pains however is unusual and you should have it checked out. What happens if you dont go on anti-depressants? Usually after a while of anti-depressants, your brain boosts your serotonin. If you think it's better for you to go on without anti-depressants, then do it. However, you should talk to your therapist first.

You are taking too many medications, to mask your true feelings. You should not be on so many, unless you mean, you are taking those one at a time. Perhaps, you should try luvox, or buy some lithium from a health food store, which would be far more benificial, and not any side effects. Get the 1000. mg strentgh, and see if you don't feel better

No, that is what they all do. Remember, the mess with the chemicals in your brain and nervous system. How long were you on each one? They don't work for 4-6 weeks...even then the side effect might not go away.

What are you like when you aren't on them. Don't take medications without justifiable cause.
