A friend of mine, who is uninsured (is legal in this state) backed into a vehicle last week. The other driver is insured through American Family. After exchanging information and agreeing to stay in contact; he knew he was goin to have to personally pay for the damages. Within a week he was sent ONE estimate of over 3 thousand dollars to get the repairs. They asked to be paid in full in a fair ammount of time in order to repair their car. (This letter was not from an insurance company, but from the actual people involved in the incident.)
Realisticly, he is unable to pay them in full in the immideate future. Legally, what are his options? I would also like to know if he would be better off handeling it through thier insurance company?
In advance, I sincerely appreciate your time & advice. Thank-you.

Basically, it looks like his only option is to offer to make payments. If he does this and makes the payments, can he still be sued?
