Divorcees teach on mondays, tuesdays, wednesdays, thursdays, fridays, and saturdays. There's no reason why they shouldn't teach on sundays.
Also, married atheists divorce much less than members of churches, so on the divorce matter alone, they are especially qualified to teach on sundays.

Why shouldn't a divorcee be allowed to teach Sunday School? You see, God is the vine and we are the branches. The vine is the part of the plant that grows the roots and gives the nourishment. Any and all of the branches are all very different. It is impossible to find two that are just alike. Also there are many vines diverse in nature and design so there are also many diverse branches. This woman may have a wonderful testimony and great understanding of God's Word and it may be her calling to serve God in the teaching capacity. Who but God would have any right to tell her she cannot teach others about God just because her marriage did not last ? The reason for her marriage breaking up may also be a part of what has helped her to become a stronger testimony for God and may be a wrongly judged asset by those who would judge her that God might choose to use in order to give this woman more power in her ministry for Him. Now, I ask you, who are we to question God? God uses those who are willing to be usable! This woman should be no different from any other and God's door opened to her to teach Sunday School should only be shut by God. What God has put together, let no man put asunder does not only apply to marriage within the church you know! Who knows greater than HE?

Has it occurred to you guys that this person may be the divorcee??? As for the question, I say that it depends what denomination you are in. While I personally think that divorce is okay, some denominations, such as Catholicism strictly disagree with divorce. If that's the case, I don't feel that someone should be allowed to teach Sunday school when they are clearly going against what the teachings of the church say.
As for my personal beliefs, I think that I am better served by learning from someone who has been through life's experiences and has still managed to come out as a better, stronger person. It's encouraging to see someone that can overcome difficulties and share his or her personal wisdom.

Yes, I cite two reasons. Paul and David. David was the King of Israel. He was seen as the Golden Boy of Israel. He was a man that was deeply loved by God. He loved God and sought after him earnestly. He also committed murder and adultery, yet God still used him. Paul was a horrible man before he came to God. Paul persecuted the Christian church in an awful way. He called for the death or imprisonment of Christians all over the land. He was cold-hearted and just horrible. God used him as well. I think if God used those two people, he won't mind using a divorcee to teach Sunday School.

In my opinion, this depends on a couple of things.
1. Why did they get divorced? Adultery is a Biblically valid reason for divorce. If a teacher got divorced because his/her spouse was unfaithful, they did nothing wrong and should be able to teach. If the teacher was the one that was unfaithful, that is another story.
2. What age kids are we talking about? A divorcee who cheated on someone probably won't have that much impact on really young kids, because issues of marriage and fidelity don't come up that often in their lessons. Teaching high school youth or an adult class would be completely different.
When it comes down to it, I think it should be up to the pastor of the church. If a teacher was unfaithful, but fully repented of his/her sins, and the pastor deems him/her fit, then he/she should be allowed to teach.

You've got to be kidding. Marriages fail all the time. What does being divorced have to do with teaching Sunday School?

Why not? Divorce is caused by many factors. And you do not know the cause of the divorcee's divorce. I thought that Christians were taught to turn the other cheek, not prejudge people.

Absolutely, someone who left an unhappy marriage for the sake of bettering themselves and their situation in life, should absolutely be able to teach Sunday school. No question about it.

It is true that God hates divorce. But there are sometimes very good reasons for divorce and who are we to judge. If the person lives a godly life and does the proper study, I don't see the problem.

Are they a christian? did they leave thier spouse for someone else, or did they recieve the divorce? Was there abuse involved? Do they Love Christ, and try their best to live and love each day the way he taught? if so, leve them be, if not then you may have an issue.
