If someone purchased an item for me and I want to refund it, is that possible even though I don't have their credit card info or their signature or whatever? thanks

Totally depends on where the item was purchased. Some stores require the original credit card. If you don't have it for some reason, they will probably give you store credit. Some stores are really lenient and will give you cash.

They will refund you however, most stores will only give you store credit since it was a gift purchased on a credit card. If you don't have the receipt most stores will only give you store credit to prevent fraud.

most stores will give you a gift card/store credit for the return of a gift without the receipt

either that, or store credit. if it's a gift, then just tell the person and they'll take it back.

Yes, most businesses will do that. In fact they prefer to do it on the same account, rather than have you try to put it on a different account.
