The only limit to your freedom, is when your actions start to interfere with my freedoms. That's what the rule of law is all about.

No one has the freedom to insult and ridicule. Those that do are expressing the freedom to CHOOSE to do so. These types have no concept of duty to understand that their choice to ridicule and insult has consequences; even some that may come to bite them in the butt.

Insults and oppression are valid only if the person insulted or oppressed allow the action to go unchallenged. I'm not saying to sling insults back but put on an armor of defiance and defend whatever or whoever is being insulted.

freedom has its limits because there is more than one person in this world so one's freedom ends where the other's freedom begins. Insult and ridicule other's beliefs? Now you are getting really sensitive. What is your goal here? To fellowship with other christians, to hold hands and sing kumbaya? go to church. On here, your beliefs will be discredited by people who think differently, taking it personally is petty. It is not a personal attack, it is a debate on beliefs. If you can't take it, go somewhere else, preferrably, church

I don't think there's anything such as "too much freedom"..

any limits that exist on our "freedom" are probably physical or geographical..

but the freedom of every person is absolute and unlimited. when this begins to translate into insult, ridicule and even physical harm, that can't be blamed on "too much freedom" but on too little responsibility, or the lack of conscientious decisions..

so in effect.. limits to one's "freedom" are put in place by one's own conscience.. by matter of choice..

freedom should not hurt anyone's feelings or go to excesses . we arent free to oppress ,or ridicule the beliefs of others.
our freedom should be limited to our selves and a small area around us, anything beyond that is chaos.

Freedom isn't foolproof, because there's a limit to everything, except stupidity. The natural boundary of freedom is when one's actions impacts others rights. You do not have the right to control what you overhear or what is said to you in public. You do have the right to control harmful actions that speech stirs up. It's true this is not a clear cut boundary, but it's the best one can do, without transgressing oneself.

Yes, I live in America, so I know this first hand. Also, when I use Y!A, I find that freedom has it's limits.

Clearly you don't understand freedom of speech. It is meant to protect unpopular speech since popular speech needs no protection. Speech is not oppression.

The correct response to speech with which one disagrees is rebuttal (more speech), not censorship.

In any event, no one has a right to not be offended. We are all free to voice our opinions, even if others feel insulted or ridiculed.

Just freedom. You don't have to listen, do you?

If someone came to your house and carried on shouting at you outside your door then they should be arrested.

The way to counter a bad argument is a better argument - not by silencing them.

I think nazis should be able to organise parades. Racists should be able to make public speeches. People should be able to publicly burn flags. That's freedom. America used to stand for it.
