No, I don't think so.
It would be unconstitutional.
MOST atheists are very respectful. There a very few who seem to hate all religious people, especially Christians.

Well that depends on which atheist became president. A lot of atheists would actually be more interested in supporting people's freedom to think and believe as they wish. Very few atheists are in favor of actually attempting to somehow "control" the minds of others. However, every group has its wackos.
America has actually probably had several atheist presidents already. The vast majority of politicians have no trouble paying lip-service to a religion they do not believe in if it helps them get elected. By looking back at the private letters of some of our politicians and comparing them to the public declarations they made, it can easily be seen that what they tell the electorate about their beliefs is very rarely accurate.

No, I don't think so. Someone that is Atheist is in the minority in this country. They know that the main thing that keeps their civil liberty in tact regarding that Atheism is the freedom of religion. I don't believe that, for the most part, an Atheist would want to just get rid of Christianity. I can see taking out the religious overtones in government (God Bless America wouldn't be used as a campaign slogan). I can see taking away things like the prayer over the Congress. I can see making sure that no prayer in schools is enforced, but I cannot see simply abolishing Christianity. One of the very things that makes this country what it is is that it ISNT a theocracy. We are a secular government. I could see an Atheist striving to stick to the idea of a secular government very strictly.

I am a Christian and I say no they wouldn't try at all.
next it would have to take a Constituional ammendment to abolish it and that would be extremely dificult.
Most Atheists just want to be left alone There are just a few here that seem to have real hate in their hearts.
I wanted to address Mr. Obvious maybe a woman President would try to abolish men. Never go to a sperm bank guys there is a conspiracy to do away with men. LOL
I know you were just being obvious

I can accept an atheist on a personal level, but I will not accept their point of view pertaining to God on any level. I would therefor conclude that I could not, with a clear conscience, knowingly vote for an atheist.

There seems too be a concerted effort all over the world to stamp out Christianity. I am sure you have noticed. Right here in the USofA this trend seems to be escalating. An atheistic President - now, that is a scary thing to contemplate. Such a person would have a loud, and agressive following. BE CAREFUL who we vote for !

Well it's obvious to see why Christians fear atheists so much. An atheist president couldn't do that if they wanted to. The Constitution wouldn't allow that because we have the freedom to worship in this country. All an atheist president would do is see that Christianity didn't overstep it's bounds in insinuating itself into our government and public school system.

Of course, especially since Christians kill off the last athiest by lousy spelling.
However, atheist, one the other hand would not attempt to abolish christianity, maybe cut their funding and equalise it with the rest of the religions, but never to abolish it.

It's increasing stranglehold on politics hopefully, but it doesn't take an atheist to do that though, just someone who has a marginal understanding of the constitution and what this country was founded upon, which contrary to popular lies, was not Christianity. As long as you guys don't start killing everybody again you're fine.

I would hope not. And constitutionally he could not - freedom to practice the religion of choice is guaranteed. One would think the Atheists would not do what they accuse Christians of doing - forcing a belief (or non-belief) down someone throat. Just let people worship as they please and use your own judgement and upbringing to make your own decisions.
