What's with the past tense?
Jewish boys ARE circumcised on the 8th day. This is because the number eight symbolizes transcendentalism (seven = the seven days of creation and nature, so eight means going above and beyond nature). The circumcision IS performed by a "Mohel". The Mohel IS someone who's been trained in the technical and ritual aspects of the job.

I have watched a lot of newborns get cut and it is not pretty. Screaming and plenty of blood. Yes they can control it but.
I have seen Jewish babies cut on the eight day with little bleeding or crying.
The 8th day for some reason there are more coagulants and more pain analgesics in the blood than at any other time.
do you think added that in on purpose, I do.

interesting question it is interior the Scriptures this time Matt 9:17 I consider Maranatha. Y'shua introduced the recent Wine to bypass into New Wineskins. One won't be able to positioned a patch on Judaism because it is going to tear & make it worse. thank you;) hi Buttercup, intense-high quality & concise Challah, you may desire to be surprising approximately Torah being previous & New wine. right it is an imprecise verse that I have no clarification for type of previous & new in Matt thirteen;fifty two " for this reason each and every scribe advised relating to the dominion of YHWH is nearly a householder who brings out of his treasure issues new & previous." perchance a Jewish individual who has been schooled in Torah from a youthful age & will become a messianic Jew believing that Y'shua is the Jewish Messiah is uniquely placed to convey on from the Torah previous & new that are the two good. AS for circumcision, Shabbat & tefillin that seems to be previous, yet is likewise new in that Y'shua confirmed what would desire to be executed on Shabbat & speaks of the circumcision without palms on peoples hearts. The issues that would have been in dispute have been the bathing of palms that may no longer interior the Torah aside from clergymen & the failings that have been Korban whilst vowed to the Temple. And the heavy regulations on Sabbath regulations. in this you recognize greater suitable than I gain this perchance you may learn them. Luke 5:37-39 " And no person places new wine in previous wineskins, in the different case the the recent wine will burst the wineskins & be spilled & the wineskins ruined. yet new wine could be positioned into new wineskins & the two are preserved. no person having below the impression of alcohol previous wine, at present desires new wine for he says the previous is greater useful." This needless to say shows that a metamorphosis of heart could ensue to have the skill to obtain the recent wine or the previous will continuously look & flavor greater useful. i'm hoping that enables.

The link answers about circumcision for a male Jewish baby on his 8th day. It is performed by a mohel, a person trained for this purpose. Please read for the detailed explanation at the link belowl
http://www.jewfaq.org/birth.htm
The ceremony is called the Bris Milah. ( or Brit Milah depending on your Hebrew pronunciation ) meaning covenant of circumcision. bris means covenant.
I cannot help but wonder why you ask of Christians about the Jewish religion? Do you also ask Hindu adherents about Islamic law? I respectfully suggest you will have far greater liklihood of a correct answer about a religion if you inquire from the adherents of said religion or use their scriptures or doctrine to determine the answer.
Here now also answers your misconception about "Messianic Jews" with an essay I wrote:
I am a a Jewish follower of Monotheistic Judaism
Sound redundant? Of course it does. Judaism's primary tenet is belief there is only one eternal God of all creation. Judaism brought monotheistic belief to the world.
Hear O' Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is ONE
There is absolutely no need to designate any particular branch of Judaism as monotheistic. It is every bit as illogical and redundant to have a phrase naming a separate branch of the Jewish religion as "Messianic Judaism".
The very notion of a Davidic Messiah of Israel, Judaism presented to the world and its still very much a part of Judaism. The religion of Judaism is messianic. It is one of the principles of the faith of Judaism to have belief that God will make good the promise of an anointed human King of Israel who will deliver Israel and all who are persecuted and oppressed and usher in an age when all peoples shall know and worship God. The events of the Messianic age prophesied quite obviously would require no sales pitch to convince anyone on the planet if they had transpired.
So, when you ask a person of the Jewish faith, " Are you a messianic believer?" You may get a mixed reaction before you get an answer. The straightforward, logical, and truthful answer from anyone whose faith is found in the religion of Judaism would be to answer in the affirmative. Belief that God will do as promised to bring the Davidic messiah is one of the 13 principles of Judaism. If you know what Judaism is about, a single simple yes would suffice, yet, because there is a fast growing number of Christians who willfully misrepresent Christian dogma as a part of a sect of Judaism, an answer in the affirmative usually requires clarification. My hope is that here I can help at least one person understand why they may get an exasperated look or a frustrated response from a Jew if they ask a Jewish believer, " Are you a Messianic Jew? Are you a Jewish believer?" Perhaps this may in some small way help slow the growth of misinformation, misunderstanding and and misrepresentation, and a better understanding may develop and allow for actual dialog.
As I have done many times, I offer a wonderful web page that Rabbi Stuart Federow has presented on the internet to help demystify for our Christian brethren just what it is Jews believe that is so different from Christianity. Whether you are curious or confused about Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, or Reform Judaism, this web page found at http://www.whatjewsbelieve.org will help you to understand the basic beliefs from a purely Scriptural perspective, while acknowledging and addressing the target audiences Christian perspective in relation to it. Hint: The major irreconcilable difference isn’t over the messiah.
I repeat, there is absolutely no reason to distinguish one sect of Judaism as " Messianic Judaism". If you follow the Christian doctrine found in the New Testament no matter how you Hebraicise the terms or Jesus name, you're not following the Jewish faith. You misrepresent yourself and in so doing, you are committing a sin according to Torah. If you call yourself a "Messianic Rabbi" and you are leading worshippers in prayers to or through Jesus or in his name you are misrepresenting yourself to others. You are no Rabbi. The Jewish concept of messiah is very different than the Christian as you can learn in detail at the web site listed above.
I rarely claim to speak for anyone other than myself, however, as a Jew, and on this issue, I believe I can speak for all Jews in my request. Please, be honest with yourself, your fellow man, and God if you follow the religion of the New Testament by any name, do not call it Judaism.

8 days, Below is an account where Jesus reminds them of this law. If the 8th day came on the Sabbath, the priest were required to do this work, and they were "blameless" in doing it.
Matthew 12:5 "Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?"

Gen. 17:10-14 God said to Abraham
V10 "This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised."
Vs. 11 "......and it shall be a token (sign) of the covenant betwixt me and you."
Vs 12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house (heir), or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed."
Vs 13 ".....and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant."
Vs 14 "And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant"
Joshua 5:2-9 After they crossed the dried up waters of the Jordan (as God did to the Red sea) God told Joshua to make sharp knives and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time (not the same people). Joshua performed the second circumcision of those born in the wilderness after they came out of Egypt.
Ex. 4:24. Moses had left one child uncircumcised and the Lord sought to punish him. In anger Zipporah, Moses wife, circumcised the child and threw the foreskin at him calling him a 'bloody husband'.
