Cardio will actually be the only thing to get rid of a flabby stomach.
Crunches will tone muscles UNDER the layer of fat, but if you do cardio, you'll get rid of that layer of fat, and then you can start doing crunches to tone your stomach up.
I would suggest doing 45-60 minutes of cardio (4-6 times a week). You see, after doing 30 minutes of cardio, your body switches from burning carbs to burning fat!

I will tell you what I am doing, and hopefully you will give it a try.
-Go for a walk every night. Half an hour is good :) Bring an ipod/mp3 to keep you entertained.
-Do 100 - 150 crunches OR situps a night. So that's 3 sets of 50 reps each.
-Eat healthy. A big breakfast, some lunch, and supper. THEN a snack for dessert, and it doesn't have to be very healthy. If you get hungry any other times throughout the day then eat some fruit or drink some ice water.
-Drink a lot of ice water, about 8 glasses a day.
-If you have a really bad craving for sweets, eat a pickle. It will eliminate the craving.
You won't get 'man muscles' from doing crunches.
You will see some results in about one week.
Within a month, if you stick with this plan, you will notice major results.

Cardio is not the only thing to get rid of a flabby stomach. That is very bad information. The best way to get rid of fat is to do strength training. Cardio burns far fewer calories than lifting weights, and with weight lifting you continue to burn calories afterward. If you want to do cardio do high intensity interval training. That also continues to burn calories after your workout. Steady state cardio where you just run at the same pace on a treadmill is not as effective. Also, your diet is going to be the biggest factor above all else. The answer from Britta Britta is what you typically hear from people, but it is incorrect.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.
1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.
2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.
3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.
These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

There is no quick way to lose flab. The best for you will be to target your abs with crunches...the key to not having man abs is to do overall on the three frontal areas without targeting the individual ab muscles. Do this in groups of three styles...crunch flat legged, crunch with your knees up, crunch with your legs in the air. To have girl curves stand up and do side bends also.

Continuous exercise. Crunches without any other exercise will actually do very little.
You won't get "man muscles" for going muscular exercise - it's only if you go overboard; and you can always control your exercise routine.
I'd advise aerobic exercise.

Have you ever tried a body wrap? I know a lot of people who work out and eat right but had certain areas they just couldn't tone. They started wrapping and have had a lot of success!
