I am referring to their concepts of exclusivity; that one must follow their beliefs in order to avoid eternal torment. This question isn't about the Biblical/Koran basis for these beliefs, rather it's about how they deal with this fact.

Believing that everyone else is going to Hell essentially dehumanizes those who practice other religions. It is linked to a lack of tolerance. There are a good amount of commonalities between the religions. They all encourage people to be good people.

Who cares whether a god puts his pants on left leg first or right leg first? These are silly details we are argue over. Why can't we focus on the common goals rather than the details?

I'm sorry but I have to disagree and here's why. Qur'an clearly says that People of the Book (i.e. Christians and Jews) have nothing to fear if they're following their books. So it's not only Muslims in Heaven.

But then again, I'm a Muslim who beleives that Heaven and Hell are metaphors only, so there you go.

:)

P.S. Oh, yes! We Muslims are not promised Heaven just because we're Muslims, it's all about hard work. There's no *once saved, always saved* concept in Islam.

Every Religion whether Christian, Islamic or Pagan has a belief in the afterlife Heaven and Hell Vallhallah or whatever But our Constitution was in fact raped two nights ago by Senate in a voice Vote regardless of Religious belief or none in the form of a Hate Crimes Bill that no longer allows for Free Speech or Religious Expression.....Government Now dictates what can and cannot be taught as Doctrinal Beleifs sooo What's next? Passing out tracts etc cansend you to jail for a Hate Crime and two old ladies are already in jail for it in Pennnslyvania. Does that make you feel better? HR Bills 2015, 984, The Enda Act and The Dream Act are among those that Should be In Hell along with the authors of it. Have a nice Day! If Protecting children from it is bad then so be it!

I'm sorry if you feel that way personally.
You say that Christians have a lack of tolerance, and in a way you are correct.
Here is an example:
If you were given the miracle of saving those who have cancer, any kind at all, would you keep it to yourself? Or would you tell as many people as you could?
With you having the cure, you CANNOT tolerate the fact that people who have cancer do not receive your cure.
It is the same with being a born-again Christian.
Once you accept Christ, you are not a part of this world any longer. Your old self of sin and immorality have been crucified with Christ (Romans 6). You have had victory over sin because of the grace and love of Jesus Christ.
Now if saving a life on earth from something (such as cancer) is so important to us, how much more important will it be to be saved from eternal torment?
As Christians we are not only trying to tell you "hell, torment and death" but rather "Jesus Christ, love, and repentance."

Praise Him :)

I think that if someone who subscribes to a particular religion doesn't believe in everything that the religion entails, then they aren't really a part/member/believer.
I believe in Islam, but if I think that non-Muslims will go to heaven, then what kind of Muslim am I, why even bother?? But Allah does say that if people don't embrace Islam, that's their choice, you can't persecute them for that. There are some who will never believe, no matter what.
People have a tendency to get that supremacy feeling about their religion, or whenever they think they're doing something that they feel is better and that's when treating others of differing religions like crap comes in.
We do have to work on remembering that everyone has a right to what they choose as far as religion, we shouldn't look down on them because of it.

Because common goals are different between religions; each have their version of what sends a person to hell. As a Muslim and when asked I give answers as to what will save a soul from hell. Christians do not do the same; they flat out say I am going to hell because I'm not a Christian.

Fat Shark: To answer your question take a look at Northern Ireland. It's Christian killing Christian there.

I don't think that it is linked to a lack of tolerance ... to me thats simply freedom of religion. Just because I am Muslim, and I believe that there is only one God, and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that does not mean that I am intolerant to other religions because of my own beliefs.

And in turn, if a Christian tells me that I will go to hell because I do not believe that Jesus (pbuh) is God's son, that does not phase me, let alone dehumanize me. If that is not tolerance than I don't know what is ...

Universal truth accepts all things in their proper context, so yes you are right, but I'd rather we focus on the constructive aspect and not dwell on problems we all know. We must dwell on doing right so no room for problems and fault finding remains IMO.

I'm very good at fault finding, but doing right is an ever increasing need in the world, and ultimately the latter good does not allow for time for anything else, or less.

God bless -

You are also intolerant of others by lumping all Christians and Muslims into one group each. Not all Christians or Muslims belief that their way is the best way and you should take my way. In fact all of the Christians and Muslims I have met are nice people who never try to push their religion down my throat. In fact one Christian was so nice, I married her 37 years ago. By the way I am Jewish.

It would be nice if you understood the Bible. It is not about the way you dress but about hope. Jesus said that he is was the way, the truth, and the life. No one gets towards the father except through him. This doesn't sound like a threat but spiritual truth.

Answer: Men/women are a threat to peace especially when they ignore spiritual truth.

That is not true. Even Muslims believe that Muslims may not be able to go to Heaven. Its all about your actions on this Earth.

Fat Shark...look throughout your Christian history. Christians kill ALL the time. Just as any other people who believe in other religions. Heard of Christians bombing Abortion Clinics??
