I'm not sure when it started, but I think people having a sense of "me first" and a sense of entitlement began creeping in during the 1960's and is in full swing today.

I think that people are not taught respect for others and their property.

As I recall, manners got chucked out in the 90"s. I think I'm one of the few who still says "may I please have...." when ordering a fast food meal etc..., instead of " give me a..." or "I'll have..." or whatever , which to me sounds really crass, like their mother didn't teach them well.
