It is both. God will provide opportunities and you should take them. Or in other words, do what you can and depend on God to bless it. However, as you go ahead and do your part, be flexible, because God may want to take a different route. Often times what we want is so much lower than what He wants to bless us with. God may give you a vision, then you will try to settle for less, He will take it away and through miraculous circumstances give you something much better. This is what happened to me.
Blessings,
Jack

You have to be sure it is God that is giving you the vision and not the devil. If all your feelings are good about these visions I would say go forth with it. But if you have any doubts about these visions as in being against God's teachings then I would say wait for more positive signs you might get in the future. God could at times be very slow to act maybe months or years once you feel that you are being chosen for a particular job. Be patient and look for the signs of opportunity that God will send your way as time goes by. There is also the possability that it might not happen which you should interpret as it wasn't ment for you. What ever happens or doesn't happen don't feel that God let you down because He is still proud of you that you did your best at trying to do what you thought was your calling. I hope this answer makes sense to you. Good luck.

The funny thing about prophetic visions is that you never know when they're going to come true. If you had a vision that you were going to die, say, at work, would you go to work? What if it's not for another couple decades? Or you die in a car crash? Would you get into your car?
Now, assuming that your vision was truly prophetic in nature and not simply something that you have been thinking of quite a bit that was washed into your consciousness during either sleep or meditation by your mind "emptying" itself (as it does during those actions) I would say that if you are given that vision, it's where you are going to go, whether you like it or not. If you liked what the vision was, you could feel like you have control over yourself and try to work for it or if you didn't like it, you could work against it.
Also remember that what you saw was only a two-dimensional temporary point in your life. You may have seen yourself behind the counter at a fast food joint when you're 45, which would, to me, be a horrific vision, but the vision doesn't tell you why. Maybe you had to get a second, part-time job because of school or some such thing, or in the future you meet a person that's a manager of the restaurant and you were helping out for the day (as unlikely as it seems)
Don't interpret visions too deeply. I hate to be a cynic, but most "visions" are either drug-induced, induced from lack of sleep or occur when the brain is "emptying" itself of the conscious thoughts for the day. If this is truly a vision, and you liked what you saw and you liked where your life was in the vision, then work for it. It's always good to have goals. If you didn't like it, work against it. If it was a true vision, no matter what you do, it'll happen. If it wasn't, then don't worry about it and get on with life.
Remember that Joseph saw a vision, but so did Adolf Hitler.

I would say you should go forth and try and accomplish it. But to be reasonable...
How do you know it was God? Couldn't it be something else? Remember the bible says that the devil can transform into an angel of light. I would personally wait for more clarification or another sign! If nothing else - let God lead you if it's truly what he has planned for you.

that is why God gave us a brain. To weigh the consequences of each decision we make. What are my goals and is God in my goals and leading me.
what happens if it doesn't work out then you assume that God messed it up or isn't helping you?
If it is something you really want then by all means go forth and get it. I know a girl who was told she could never be a registed nurse. The course was just to tough and it was for the long haul and she was to flighty.
It took her 7 years but she finally made it. She really wanted it and was determined.

Joseph had a vision when he was young he would be ruling over his brothers and spoke to them about it. As a result, they sold him and threw him in a pit........and eventually this prophetic vision did come true. In the New Testemant, Peter had a vision about ministering to the Gentiles and that changed is perspective in something he was already doing (preaching the gospel). I have found trying to achieve a vision from God in your own strength is futile. It is much better to pray about it until you have specific direction from the Lord, if you don't have specific direction better to say "Thank you Lord for fullfilling this vision you have put before me". Those are my thoughts for whatever they are worth.

If God gives you a plan for your life He will help you to accomplish it in your life. There is a process of spiritual development you have to go through and it is necessary for you to rely on the Holy Spirit to show you and guide you as to what you must do each step of the way. According to His time He will release you to fulfill the plan. You are assured of success in God's time if you are led by the Holy Spirit in every step you take in your walk with the Lord. Do not try to help God to achieve the plan by your human effort. It is not by your might nor by your power but by the Spirit.

If the vision is from God He will bring it to pass. You just watch and see things unfold and the Lord will show you when and where to move. If you continue steadfastly to listen to the Lord and stay in tune by checking things with the Scriptures you will find that His Will for you is easy to see and follow. Blessings to you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. By the way, have you obeyed Acts 2:38?

As a Christian, this is one of the hardest things for me. As a human, we all want to control our own lives.
If you are a true Christian, you will let God lead you to what He knows is right for you. The only way to do that dear is by praying to him with your entire heart. Not just one time but every time you think of it, no matter where you are. No one else will ever know you are praying so do so.
We all want answers in our lives. More times than not, the answer from Him isn't the one we want. So, if He is guiding you to something that you don't want, keep praying about it and He'll take care of it. If it's the best thing for you, He knows it and will make sure it happens for you.
I know it's confusing at times but only time makes things right. We have to learn to trust Him and that's not because of anything He's done but our not being sure of ourselves.
Keep praying to Him and He'll show you His way of doing things that is best for you.
My best to you and I'll keep you in my prayers also.

The best thing that I can say when searching for direction in your life is to go to God in prayer, pray that he opens the doors of opportunity and closes those that are not going to further the kingdom of God. That is the best thing I can say about direction, is it easy to let Go and let God? Not always, but through pray and reading your bible, you will be more apt to listen to your gut, or to a believer, the Holy Spirit. For the Holy Spirit through prayer, reflection and obedience to God will guide you.
