My dad was attacked on our property by a neighbour today. IT TOOK 5 emergancy phone calls and 4 hours for the police to come!
I think this is somewhat unaccpetable!!!

IN the meantime , the 4 hours that passed , the attacker was able to fabricate a story saying that my father attacked him first and he acted in self defence , and he got 4 of his friends to come down to his house and to be his so called "witnesses".

SHAME on the West Australian Police force!

------>Chocolahoma , yes the attack WAS provoked! My father was inside painting when he heard bricks bombarding onto our roof breaking roof tiles. He went out on the balcony to have a look and he saw the neighbors throwing bricks onto our roof , he then went outside to move the car out of the way so that wouldn't be damaged where he was set upon!

Neverless , i starting to think that crime is starting to prevail in todays world.

I also think that crime is in the best interest of the police and lawyers , for if they would eradicate it to a zero they would be out of a job! I'm begging to think they are corrupt as the crims themselves.

Shame on them is right. What on earth was their problem? Maybe there was a miscommunication from dispatch and the police didn't know it was even happening. If your father was hurt badly, he could have a civil case, if you want to pursue one. As long as your dad isn't being charged for attacking this neighbor, I'd let it drop. If the neighbor presses charges against your dad, I'd make sure everyone knew what really happened. You can offer to do an interview with a news program about how awful the Police force is and what happened as a result of their ridiculously long delay.

The police should of acted quickly especially if you called 000 the acceptable time should be no more than 5 minutes in a city area and no more than 20 minutes in a rural area possibally a bit longer if you life an hour away from the nearest police station but defiently not 4 hours. here in queensland just recently it took 3 hours and 2 calls to police before they attended a fight which when they finally arrived had turned into a murder this has now changed the way in police are dispatched in qld with all types of offices from traffic to operational to CIB being dispatched to any call. i think you should write a letter to WA police and ask them what there acceptable time for attending a crime like this is . i would also write a letter to my local my and my local federal mp and contact the media this is a discrace

Shame for sure! I don't think the police are mandated by any certain restrictions for response time - but I would sure start complaining at the local level and work up. The calls were probably recorded, so act quickly to get copies before they get erased. Make pictures of any injuries he received, and go ahead and let two doctor's look at the injuries for documentation. Write down everything he remembers and look for any and all possible actual witnesses. There might be a witness that you don't know about. Some body might have passed by, a neighbor, a mail carrier, any one who might have seen the assault or seen the attacker leaving. Don't be afraid to ask around.

If your father took a beating and the neighbor has not, then it doesn't matter how many "witnesses" will claim the opposite.

If your father's life wasn't in immediate danger, then the police could have put his call as a low priority. If your father has a history of exxagerated claims and baseless emergency calls, then he would be an even lower priority.

If he was badly injured, why did you not take him straight to an emergency room or a hospital? They would have documented his injuries and cemented his claims to having been a victim.

Personally, I doubt your story is 100% accurate. Is there a long-standing dispute between the men? Have they argued before? People don't tend to simply beat up their neighbors for no reason--did your father provoke the incident?

4 hours come on! Your police suck because we respond to calls like this in 2 to 5 minutes.

Woah, someone will be getting a nice ass reaming, you can count on that.
generally, a response time of 2-5 minutes is better if someone is being attacked. Maybe the dispacher thought it had already ended.

Don't know what the other side of the story is, but WE would be there in less than 5 minutes.

No, because they cannot control factors like traffic jams, road conditions, weather condition, etc. As long as they get there within a resonable time, that is all that matters.
