On an earlier question I was told that to emphasize light rather than sacrifice for sin is the "Gnostic Gospel."

I was told that I should stay away from that kind of thinking.

Gosh! I thought to myself... I better stay away from those Four Gospel because Jesus speaks about light all the way through those 4 Gospels ... and when he addressed the subject of sacrifice he said "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice." (from Matthew 9:13) source: http://gospelenigma.com

So are the Four Gospels in fact the Gnostic Gospels?

No they aren't. The Gnostic gospels include the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Judas and a few more. They were buried by the Church at a long time ago because they had a more revolutionary view of Jesus that I happen to find more Buddhist. There are people who follow the Gnostic Gospels called Gnostics. I enjoy the Gnostic gospels as I find Jesus more accessible in them but I know other people feel differently. You'll probably get a more detailed answer from someone else. Sorry, I just woke up.....no coffee......best to you. Me: Buddhist

No. All the Gospels (Gnostic and the four in the buy-bull) were written at different times throughout the first-third centuries.
That response meant to focus on the positive aspects that are shown in the spirituality of the Gnostic Gospels as opposed to focusing on sin (IE-something negative) Live for the positive and stop worrying about this rule or that. (sacrificing yourself)
Of course the Church wants you to stay away from anything that might have you think and maybe (gasp) become logical or reasonable.

The gnostic gospels are the ones that supposedly were written along with Matt., Mark, Luke , and John. There are a few problems with that line of thinking.
The writers of the four Gospels confirmed each of the others writings as to being inspired by God.
The Early Church Fathers only wrote about these four Gospels. The others weren't written yet.
Had the others been written, Marcion would have used them to further his agenda.
These gnostic gospels can't be confirmed as to who wrote them or even when they were written.
The gnostic gospels aren't in line with the true Gospel message. The gospel of Thomas says that you have to become a man to enter into heaven. This is contrary to the rest of the Gospel message. The others are the same way, contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ and not to be trusted.

NO, not even close.

The biblical gospels tell us that the church has power over us. That without it, we cannot reach heaven.

The gnostic gospels say--among other things--that everyone can find heaven. That everyone can find jesus. "lift up a stone and I am there..."

Church leaders do not want you to consider the gnostic gospels because they advise you to be intelligent and to not listen to them.

To the gnostics, the snake in the garden of Eden was sacred because it gave us intelligence. To the church the snake in the garden of Eden was the devil.

No. What are usually referred to as the "Gnostic Gospels" are a number of apocryphal texts mostly dating to the second century CE.
