SXANTHOP, John 13:35

" By this shall all men know that ye are my deciples, if ye have love one to another"

how does this explain your beliefs, your personal beliefs, the one that made you have faith. I said no bible scripture, you failed!

steve, I have read them several times, I am not an ignorant Atheist, I am a knowledgable Atheist who considered every side to the argument. NO scripture! do you not have a reason for your beliefs, what made you want to read the bible, what made you want to believe? the answer can not be found in the bible, it only resides in your conscience

David C, you are wise beyond compare! lol

I just wondered how many christians actually have a reson for their faith, other than, just knowing because that was all they have been taught since childhood! for that is not thier faith, it is someone elses that has been pushed on them. Fairy Queen is an example of this. I have found that most Christians can not explain their religion without the help of the bible, these individuals are thus blind to the meaning of what, their, Jesus represents. If I can realise this as an Atheist, then why can't they?

Oh dear Silver Tongue, does the term Can of Worms, or Pandora's box come to mind.

Nobody here can define their faith in terms of truth, for truth is a religious term, thus a component of the very faith that they are defining.

Truth from Old English treuthe from Anglo SaxonAS. tre['o]w. -True - old Germanic for Faithful.

so to have faith in a God is to be true, and the writings associated with that faith are automatical 'truth' as they are the written articles of that faith.

thus 'to do truth', is to practice what God commands?

However, the difference between truth and fact is where you will get the most answers.

however, you can not ask for accuracy, as the events of faith have no grounding in the physical, or factual world. However, for somebody who has faith, the blind faith itself becomes the fact to support it? Its a circular argument, and I dare say you just wanted to spin the roundabout a few times - shame on you mate - the majority of people declairing a faith on this site do not have the equipment to agrue outside of this pandora's box with any objective viewpoints, they are too close to the trees to see the wood's

Faith is a gift from God, and without faith it is impossible to grasp the truth of God's word and the gospel message. I am therefore unable to prove anything to you about my faith, but I will gladly share my testimony of how I came to faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

I was brought up as a Jehovah's Witness and thought I was a Christian. However, my salvation was not assured because, in order to survive Armageddon I had to remain faithful and obedient to the Watch Tower Society and earn my place on a paradise earth by going from door to door to convert others. In other words, salvation by works. Also, I had been told that I could only have a measure of the holy spirit, so I was not in the new covenant established by Jesus when he laid down his life as an atoning sacrifice for sinners such as you and I. When Armageddon failed to turn up circa 1975, I realised the Watch Tower Society were false prophets and left that organisation.

For some 20 years I wandered in a spiritual wilderness, but although I had abandoned God, he had not abandoned me. Just over 10 years ago (it was shortly before Easter), God, through the Holy Spirit, opened my eyes to the reality and the beauty of the risen Christ. I was amazed - how could I have failed to grasp his divinity, his holiness, his love, his compassion? Where had I been all my life? It was such a revelation! This happened while I was at home, working in the kitchen. It was like someone gently tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Here I am". What a happy day! What a life-changing moment.

I used to be an alcoholic for years. That was taken away from me by Jesus Christ. I went to bed one night, seven years ago, and I woke up sober. I had no withdrawals, no cravings either, didn't have the shakes, it was as if I never drank at all!. I have had numerous healings in my body. The prayers of others has brought me to salvation with our Creator. I have come t the realization that here are other choices that I can make, contrary to how I would have dealt with the situations in the past. I make the decisions as recorded in the Bible. I believe in everything that the Apostles wrote and received from God. I have experienced the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of tongues. This is the completion of salvation as the Holy Ghost leads me in all Truth. Just as the Bible states.

faith does no longer require certainty. Nor does it require evidence. between the main curious and questionable characteristics of guy is his skill to believe despite the fact that he chooses to believe, even with what the data or the certainty could exhibit. Is it surprising to cover certainty to coach faith? could that's surprising to bare certainty to disprove faith? Why are human beings so occupied with what their associates believe in? Why does it count a lot what they have self assurance in? Cant all of us merely get alongside?

The day that I realised that I had my own path to follow and that others people walk different ones, so I don't dictate my views to others, nor do I think that my views would be helpful for others to follow.
It was painful to realise that all my previous beliefs were a hoax, as they were a comfort to me at one time, now I walk alone.

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer: ONE, but the light has to want to change.

There is nothing I can say or do to make you change your mind.

I believe you when you say you've researched and that you are an educated athiest.

So anything I put forth as proof, will be countered with your proof.

Ask yourself the next time you find a penny on the ground,

How did it get there, did it evolve?

Was the copper washed out of the ground by water, and as it tumbled and flowed, it became flat and a perfect circle.

Did it then become lodged between two other rocks and stamped with the proper pictures?

or

Did someone make this penny?

The universe is far more complicated to be an accident.

Because I can't deny the proof that I have been given. I don't really have a religion, just what I believe. When God has proven to me over and over by His/her actions, I can't help but believe. I can't prove it to you, but this is how he's been proven to me. I've had angels I could see play with me as a very young child. They did not stop anything from happening to me, but they protected. They allowed me to have multiple personalities in order for me to survive. They also helped me to heal. As a child, I was abused, molested, and had no one to turn to. I think I would have died if not for the very young appearing angels who came and played with me every time I was locked in a room alone. They would let me ride them horsey back while they flew. I loved them so very much. The love they gave to me was ever so much more than I could give to them. I thought they were children just like me, except with wings. When I ran away from home at the age of 15. A man who seemed nice said I could stay with him and his girlfriend. I went, he raped me so badly the doctor said I would never have kids. He would choke me until I passed out and then let me come to repeatedly. I kept hearing whispering in my ear, “Stay calm, stay calm, you need to be able to think.” After, he asked me how I wanted to die. At that moment it felt like a hand reached into the top of my head and gently sat me on the side-lines. I watched them talk for a long time. Next thing I knew I was back in my body. I didn't really know what had passed between him and whoever took control of my body, but we were on our knees, and he was crying. He took me to his friends house with instructions to keep me for two weeks. It's been 30 years or so ago. I've experienced the concern for me from an aunt who was in a coma. Something pulled me out of my body and took me to where she really was, just outside heaven. She calmed and reassured me, answered my questions, and sent me back. There have been more, but I don't want to write a book, and I'm fairly sure you don't want to read one.
Blessed Be

Faith is a belief in the evidence of things unseen.
Part of one of the laws of duality.
Can not be proven in a material sense.

The very fact that you are asking this question is proof enough that you, indeed, have no faith in the substance of things hoped for.
