There is lots of anecdotal evidence to support that but little scientific data. However I am sure you have heard them referred to as Luna-tics.

The moon does affect a lot of organisms in different ways. Oysters and some other sea animals have been demonstrated to have been finely attuned to it and some pulsating or clicking action of eggs and such have been recorded to have shifted according to the presence of the moon which differs from place to place locally.
In India we too believe that the moon affects seriously ill people and those on the death bed. I suppose it can be statistically proved that there are more deaths clustering together both during full moon time and new moon time.
But attributing more to it like astrology and things like that are not completely scientific I suppose.

I think there is some truth in that somewhere. The moon has a huge effect on our planet, it controls the tides so it's entirely possible that it can affect people who are emotionally unbalanced. The word lunatic came from the word lunar because it was noted that peoples behaviour became erratic and sometimes violent during a full moon. The moon effects peoples moods. In olden times it was sometimes the case that people would be aquitted of murder because it was committed during a full moon.

I work in a nursing home where most of the residents have some sort of dementia and whenever there's a full moon, I know I'm in for one heck of a shift! They all get very restless and aggitated, and even more confused!
You can always tell by the way the residents are acting if there's a full moon or not!!

this belief goes way back in time.i used to think it was some silly myth, but in reality, the moon affects water, ie the tides, and the fact that our bodies are made up of mostly water, then it makes sense that it would have some effect on us.im not saying that its just people who have mental health problems, i think it can effect all of us to a greater or lesser degree.

Yes, if you google there will be an atricle somewhere about the increases in incidents the police and ambulance service have to deal with on a full moon
They both work in preperation for full moons
Heres one of them, but there are a few others

the moon pulls on the earth more when it's full (consider the tides)... and yes there is a belief that it can affect the brain.
people who are not diagnosed with mental illness can be affected too.

I hallucinate and I see no patterns with how bad it is and what phase the moon is in. But I'm only one person.
