Threaten your landlord with tennancy neglect.
Damp and mould give off spores which aggrevate asthma so deffinately speak to your doctor and ask him to write to your local council. If the benefits agency pay your rent you should phone them too and tell them what is going on.

Has The home always had this problem? Is the pluming leaking under your home? There must be some way to vent the moister out. Try opening the foundation vents. Sometimes moister will billed up in the addict and it will look like its going to raining up there .

contact the Local Council, environmental health dept.
explain to them what's going on & your private landlords refusal to treat it.
i would recommend you make an appointment with your GP, they will have proof of how the damp/mould could be affecting your childrens health & yours, too.
if the GP won't help, although i seriously doubt they'll be unhelpful, your last resort must be the local press.
not to sell your story but to shame the landlord into providing you with a safe & inhabitable home.

Speak to the Environmental Health people at your local council. They'll probably come out and inspect, and they can often get a landlord to pull his finger out.
