A water butt in the garden is a good idea, to water the garden.
Shower instead of bathing.

...you could always try diluting your water too..!!

1) when you are bathing, do not use the bath tub as it requires more water. use the shower head to bath so as to minimise the usage of water.
2) When you are washing the rice, use the water to water your plants.
3) When washing dishes (many), use a tub or basin with water to wash the dishes. As if you wash many dishes one by one without the basin or tub, more water will be used.
I hope this methods can help you save water.

Only water your garden at dusk and dawn

Ensure taps don't leak

Let washing machines, dishwashers etc. pump the water onto your lawn instead of into the drain

Use a dishwasher and not manual washing of dishes

Use bathwater to water the garden

Um, take fewer showers of shorter lenghts?
"If it's yellow, leave it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down."?
Get a waterless dishwasher? Or paper plates and cups?
Drink bottled water as oposed to tap?
Did any of that help?

Oh! And I hear baths take less water than showers. Can't be sure though.

Shower for less time, Don't flush when you pee, use Xeriscaping instead of grass on your property, especially if you live in a place that isn't naturally grassy.

If you want to be really hardcore about it, you could rig a system to use gray water (used sink/shower water) to power your toilet.

Collect rainwater for e.g. watering plants, flushing loos etc.
Use less water to flush loo by installing a brick or similar in the cistern.
Have a shower instead of a bath.
Will these help for a start?

it is not running water that wastes it. It is the action of polluting the water with substances that are not supposed to be there that pollutes the water, therefore the way to save water is to use less soaps and chemicals that get into the water, and by all means please contain your motor oils and have them recycled. one drop of oil can contaminate Gallons and gallons of water.
